Reading about Barry and Ellen's adopted girl, Token, brought back a flood of memories with some of the fosters as well as the adopted ones. One story in particular I don't think I've ever shared is as follows:
When rescue told us that they needed us for Sydney, we receive his picture and decided yes, we would foster this boy. He'd had four homes in one year so our heartS were already aching before we even laid eyes on him. Little did we know at the time that the picture we received was out dated and what was supposed to be a 90-100 lb male was in actuality a 37" 1 yr old Landseer that weighed in closer to 160 at the time. :bear: I've never seen so much newf pour out of one car!!
Our first objective was to figure out where to contain this rather <ahem> large one year old because he was too big to fit into even the largest crate we owned. I special ordered one but it wasn't going to arrive for three days. I decided the master bath was the perfect place. It's large, tiled and well lit by way of huge window.
I placed a kiss on his schnozzola and went to work.
Those that know me know I go home every day at lunch to spend time with the crew and let them out to potty. (thank doG) I went up to get Syd and found that he had jumped into the jaccuzi and in the process had turned on the faucets (yes, BOTH) and everything that had been sitting around the edges was floating IN the tub because he had also managed to step on the drain plug at the same time!! I got home just in time to see the water level nearly to the top and this is a tub I can sit in and the water level reaches my shoulders! Syd was sitting over to the side looking quite happy about what he had managed to ALMOST facilitate.
I got everything cleaned up and all the towels that were IN the tub were placed in the washer. I call the DH and we have a good laugh over the near disaster.
Fast forward to 5pm when he DH arrives home from work to find Syd upstairs in the master bathroom... Water cascading over the top of the jacuzzi and heading out the door straight towards the carpet! :uglyhammer: not only had Syd done it once but he had managed to do it a second time AND was far for successful at it. He was wet from the belly down so I'm sure he had a good splash. :bear:
Who can get mad at that?
Now I was in a real pickle because I still had two days to go before the ultra extra ginormous crate arrived to keep him safe. I did the only thing I could do... I took the knobs OFF the darn jacuzzi faucet!:lol:
ps. HAVE YOU SEEN SYDNEY? :LMAO:
