My first Newf. My so very special girl. All our Newfs are special, but some just have that something that can't be defined, can't be described, just can't be put into words. Caera was one of those Newfs. She was a tease, a flirt, a "catch me if you can" kind of girl, a total chow-hound and counter surfer. She was stubborn and independent, sweet, gentle, loveable and yet fiercely loyal and would have protected me with her life. Of that I have no doubt. She was a pet therapy dog. She made people smile wherever she went. She had her favourite toy - we call it "Crabby". She was like her daddy, Rimshot, that way. She had that "look" like when I called her, she would turn her head, look at me as if to say "you talkin' to me???" She was a real character and when she left us on Monday, she took a huge part of my heart with her. It is going to take a long time to heal, but, in spite of Misha (her half sister) and Murphy (our sweet rescue boy) feeling lost just now, we're kind of lost together and having them here, sharing our grief, will help us get through this loss together.
There is so very much more I could say, but that I will put to paper for myself, for me and for Mike, to read from time to time, that will eventually put a smile on our faces and warm our hearts with the memories of our special girl.
God speed my sweet girl. I love you now and forever.
