Basically the angle of the original tplo is too much its 20 degrees,
She is having the tplo redone tomorrow and because of my work commitments she is staying over at the weekend.

Hopefully this time its ok, our holiday in 5 weeks is going to be fun looking after her

Hope you aren't having to pay for this second op?? Also hope that this will be the end of your troubles ( except the wild child rehab)!!!!!

Had this operation done at a different place as first place wouldnt show me xrays, etc even though they are the specialist branch of the vets we use.
I got a referral elsewhere as l insisted that l wanted a ct scan if it was possible.

Will leave it to the insurance firm if they want to chase the first place but happier at where she is as they are one of the top specialist practices in the uk.
Just wish we had gone there in the first place but at least l am hoping no more problems now as she has extra plates in as they know she is a handful, bless her.

Also luckily because we took one of the top insurance policies out we have enough left this year to cover this operation and a reasonable leeway left to play with for rehab.

Hope she will finally heal.... I think I was amazingly lucky with Katy's TPLO.... Hardly could walk on the way in to the vets and walked out. Still OK after four years...fingers crossed.... Prayers for quick healing now

Well she is being a challenging patient as ever.
Lots more sedatives used this time to calm her down, bones everywhere and she still wants to run and jump.constantly monitoring and watching over our wildchild.

The sofa is still not the most comfortable bed but only another 5 weeks, then rexray.

The wildchild is doing ok.we have completely stopped the metacam as she just wants to whizz everywhere without it.

She is gradually putting more weight on it and seems happy in herself.
First vets visit went well and wound looks good.

Started incline walking her for a minute a walk to keep her muscles moving and so far all ok.

Good job she is a happy child or this could be more difficult though would be easier if she didnt want to play or jump on the sofa all the time

2nd week post surgery checkup.

still a little swollen but not suprìsing with the wild child. .

she is using it most of the time but still holding it up at times which is probably better as l need her to understand her limits. We aren't giving her any pain relief as she tries to overdo it .

another check next week as we aren't taking any chances

Well 5 weeks in,one week of being completely sedated as she was starting to tear her muscle and l think the wildchild has finally turned the corner.in this last week after sedation she has finally started walking on it properly.

Next week is xrays at the specialists

Well good news is the bone is healing well and even though she doesnt always place her foot down all the time ,when she does she places it well .

Bad news is one of the screws is close to the surface and we have to monitor for 6vweeks in case they havevto go back in and remove ir retighten it.

So hydrotherapy can now get booked.
