Cascadians,
You and Orka can come over and play. But you must never, ever, tell magggie all the cool stuff you two do in the water! She will want to leave me and move away with you!

Oops! I can remain silent but Orka loves to woo wooo about it. Maggie will simply expect you to get the gear and go have fun kayaking! and watertraining of course. Easier access via kayak. But a pool in your own backyard, how Newf perfect! *drools vicariously*

She was a bit of a maniac at first! Thank goodness it was just me in the pool to start. Got a few marks on me from making the mistake of being in FRONT of her. I got smarter as the swim went on. lol! Husband didn't heed my warning and got the crap scratched out of him too. Lesson: ALWAYS listen to your wife!
She had so much fun! After swim was over she kept pawing at the gate to get back in. So happy she loved it. Get to do it all again tomorrow..and the next day..and the next..

Ronnie,
sadly, yes they did. But soooo worth it!
I did think they looked very special.....We are just pond people/dogs here in Rural Australia.
Mine also love to swim, even in Winter.
I am glad she is having so much fun, great to see a happy smily dog :) Ronnie

Maggie looks very happy! Love the picture of you and her in the pool. Already pawing at the gate to get back in -- you have a winner! CONGRATS!

Great pics! She sure looks like she's going to have a great summer! You may even have a future dock diver on your hands  Thanks for sharing!

Hahahaha! The pictures of her sitting on the stairs are ADORABLE!!!

I've found a good skin-saving technique is to carry a toy or two into the pool with me - if my pup seemed likely to try and climb me, I tossed the toy and directed him to swim and retrieve it, then got behind him or next to him and supported him under his tummy, safely out of claws' reach.

We teach our guys in the pool to fetch right from the start. The next step is to hold the bumper in your hand, call them and as they swim toward the bumper take it and them around behind you (holding bumper at arms length away from you) then as they are at your side again grab onto their life jacket and let them pull you to safety. It is so engrained in them to save you that unless you teach them how to they will keep trying and scratch you all up or practically drown you.
