Sara had her first acupuncture

I took Sara for her first acupuncture treatment for her arthritis. At 11.5 years, her only problem is her joints (all bloodwork AOK). Our vet has a new member who is certified in acupuncture and homeopathic herbs. We go back next week for the next treatment. She loved the time with "mom" and did well with the treatment. So we'll see if it helps. I hate having to give her Deramaxx for it, since even giving it with dinner is hard on her stomach.

I'm sure that Sara will start to feel better really soon with the herbs and needles. They've certainly helped both Smudge and Onyx.

Thank you all. She was a bit "loagie" the night after the treatment, but much better and perkier yesterday. I am keeping an eye on all her "systems" Next appointment, next Friday.

They tend to be a bit more logey after a treatment... the first time Smudge had a treatement, she slept for quite awhile after we got home. Onyx fell asleep on the way home after her first appointment. It's their bodies really absorbing the effects of the treatment, and all of their systems coming back into sync.

I love when alternative medicine works (like for Smudge and Onyx). Keep us updated on Sara, Nikki. Big hugs for your girl.

Sara had her 2nd treatment today and now has Chinese Herbs for muscle pain and joint pain to add to her food. She is logey again tonite, but hopefully she will be perkier tomorrow. A friend of the vet took pictures of Sara getting her treatment, today for the new web site for the vet. I'll post the web site as soon as I have it.

Are you noticing a difference the day after treatment? Mira is also getting acupuncture and Chinese Herbs.....for a back issue which occurred during spay surgery. She was very relaxed and tired after her first treatment.....but seemed pretty lively this morning.

Our Vet used electric impulses connected to some of the acupuncture needles. They weren't used on Lucy our Golden when she got acupuncture a couple of years ago. It worked wonders for her. I was totally impressed.

We're also getting her adjusted by a chiropractor next Weds. Her back is obviously (you can feel it) out of whack.

Donna, she is a bit better moving the day after and the effects seem to last a while. Hopefully the effects will last longer as treatment goes on.

Apache has been getting adjusted for 3 1/2 years now and Beau since we got him. (He gets adjusted once a month, usually before a show.) They both still are logey after an adjustment. It's the same thing as a massage/adjustment for us, very relaxing. Both my boys great Dr. Dan like he is their long lost friend everytime they see him. They love their adjustments. They've never had acupuncture, but once again I'd think it would be very relaxing, with everything coming into alignment like it does. Just feels good! LOL

My Eloise goes to accupuncture also, she's been going since the Fall and it has helped her quite a bit. She is dysplastic and has a lot of arthritis already in her hip even though she is only 4 and a 1/2.

My doctor told me it was normal that they sleep deeply after treatment, but that's a good thing, it probably means that it's working, since normally they aren't comfortable to sleep as deeply as they are after treatment. Eloise slept pretty deeply the first couple times, but now it doesn't seem to have as much of an affect on her sleepwise. I think it's because she's sleeping better all the time. I hope that the treatment works for your girl! I do think it's a miracle cure for some, I hope it is for your girl too!

Karen, it sounds like Sara when my son massages the knots out of her legs. She seems much perkier this week after the last acupuncture treatment. Plus she now has 2 chinese herb compounds added to her kibble.

Amy, I'm glad the treatment is working for Eloise It's truly a miracle for Sara who will be 12 in October.
