Rhonda and Troy Lose their home to fire

The following message was just sent out on Newf-L.

"Rhonda and Troy have been a very big fixture in the Newfoundland world. They put on their spectacular Newfie fest every year with huge draws of people and dogs. They are the most wonderful , kind hearted folks you will ever be blessed to meet. They love the breed and live for it. Especially in their fantastic Sawyer who they sadly lost last year. Sawyer was a Legend and she will live on in the hearts and minds of many. Truly an incredible gal and one of a kind.

Sadly, Rhonda and her husband Troy lost their home today due to fire. Thankfully she and her husband and dogs are fine. That is of utmost importance. They did, however, lose things that are irreplacable...photos, memorabilia of Sawyer and family.......etc.

My thoughts and prayers are very much with Rhonda, Troy and their family . Lets us as a Newf community embrace them and do what we can to help this special couple through such a difficult time.

I don't know if there is any way to reach them or what we as a group can do to help and support them. If anybody has any suggestions, I'm sure there a lot of NN'rs who would be more than happy to lend a helping hand.

Yeah, they were flooded I think 3 years ago. That same disaster and a young female friend lost her father. Don't think he was ever found. And now this. It is so very sad.

Yes, my heart sank when I read that post. I'm just so glad no one was hurt and the furkids are all okay. I'm so sorry this happened Rhonda and Troy.

Morning All..I thought that I would kind of update on Rhonda and Troy...here are some of the things that are being sent to them already...stainless steel dog bowls,rake brush and stainless steel comb,toys for the furries,collars,leads,furminator,nail grinder for the furries,dog shampoo,some gift cards.Also, some Bath and Body Works stuff for Rhonda and a hair dryer. Saddust here on the Forums has been the point person..Thanks to all of you on the forums here for your care and concern for two of the most kind people in the Newf World...

Just a PS...When I hear of an update I will let the forum know. The community that they live in, in Iowa is setting up an account for donations at their Credit Union

Wondering if gift certificates to a local Home Depot or Lowes would be useful, once they start to rebuild...I had a friend who asked for gift cards to Home Depot once, instead of wedding gifts, because they were modifying the home they'd just bought. Even if they hire a contractor or builder, they could use the gift certificates for decorating once the house is fleshed out...

That's an excellent idea.....then they will always see their friends in their home. We all know that Insurance oesn't really cover everything.

Hi NN'ers! Tara again....This will be very short for right now ..I have to be into work at 11pm tonight(chicago time).... alreadyon the way to them...stainless steel bowls, rakebrush,stainless steel comb, some toys for the furries, shampoo for the furries, leads and collars, nail grinder, furminator, some tolietries for Rhonda and Troy and hair dryer for Rhonda...a store in their area has already donated and delivered some furniture....they could use queen size bed linens,bath towels,blankets,dish towels,VERY IMPORTANT...GENERAL their elder newf needs rubber backed carpet runners!
Rhonda will need some business casual clother, Troy jeans, tshirts, flannels, carhart type of jacket(he is a contractor)...as I hear more I will post from work tonight..thank you all for your patience....in an earlier post I mentioned gift cards...target,walmart,kmart,home depot, menards...thanks again...must get some sleep...Tara
