Rescued Honor

Interesting day. Started off with a trip to the local dog park, and for the first time we weren't the only ones there, so that was a nice surprise. Stopped at pet smart as they were having an "adoption day" just to see what was there. Missed the ones up for adoption, but found out one of the employees was fostering a newfie that had been rescued from some bad breeder sting operation that happened a few months ago. A few phone conversations and a short drive later, we now have a second newfie in our home.

Honor (named by the foster mom and I think we'll keep the name) is estimated by the vet to be about 1-1.5 years old and had an instant connection with Bessa. She's timid around adults but warming up quickly, and is already snuggling with our daughter Kay (16 months old).

We're going to take her to the vet and groomers monday (I have her a bath, but there is more matting that I am comfortable dealing with) and I'll post some pictures after. Right now they are tiring each other out in the backyard.

Vet visit went well, she weighed in at 70lbs and we're estimating her at a year or maybe a little under. Still has a lot of the puppy look and lots of growth plate left in her forelegs, not to mention energy. She's getting more social by the hour and did very well at the groomers, although wanted nothing to do with the dryer, so she was still damp when we picked her up (oh gee, we've never had to deal with a wet newf in the car before...).

Took her through Cabela's afterwards for some extra socialization and she almost peed on the carpet, so we have a little more work to do in that department. I don't think it was nerves, just doesn't know to tell us yet.
