Your Newf is a compulsive follower/velcro.

Some of you may have read how I am moving. I have also posted about how Koda follows me so closely that she trips me, while I'm carrying boxes! %$@*#$#%&!!!!! That's what. I have been telling her to stay when I leave the room so she learns the world wont end if she is in one room and I'm in the other. Still she can't stand to stay for more than 15 seconds.

Honestly, it's pretty precious and cute, unless I'm trying to get things done around the house.

For the most part, she just wants to be able to see me from where she's laying in the house. It's the same outside. I can't be out of her line of vision and I usually can only get about 50-60 feet away before she gets worried and comes by me. It's really adorable. If I go in the front yard, she goes in the front yard. If I get the mail, she goes with me to the mail box. My neighbors call her my shadow, and she is. It's like that with Rowan. He freaks when I go out of his line of sight too and I just love that both of my babies are attached to me like that. Maybe it's unhealthy, but I don't really care!

Mila's a pretty low energy Newf so one of the most difficult things about dealing with her is merely getting her to stand up and go anywhere if she's laying down. So if we're outside and I decide I want to go for a walk, I can't get her to stand up to do so; so now I just say "See ya later Mila! Buh-bye! Been nice knowing ya!" and start walking down the sidewalk and she'll get up and run to follow me. It's very helpful in that regard. It's literally one of the only ways to get her stand up from a laying position! It's also nice because she will never, ever run away. Ever.

When I go into my son's room to check on the guinea pig, I shut the door behind me and Ada'll wait by the door until I come out. I feel so loved.

Haa haa, when the bathroom door is closed, I can hear Maggie breathing on the other side. She presses her nose as far as she can to the bottom of door. The sound scared the crap out of me the first time! lol. When any door is opened, she is sitting there waiting for me to come out. Ha, thought she would follow the KIDS everywhere, NOPE, its all MOMMA!
I agree with Kristen, dont care if its unhealthy, I love that she loves me!

I try to sneak from the room. I'll wait until Maggie is snoring away, and try to move, and she's instantly awake and looking at me. It's like they can feel you move-Maggie has to be in the same room as me, always.

My cat Mikey also follows me everywhere, and Mallory must be in the bathroom with me. I'm never alone. I'd think they really loved me, but actually I just think they're all very needy.

Exactly! On our hikes, I will let her off the leash in the places I know there aren't many people/dogs. She will run ahead 40 feet or so, when I feel like she has gone to far in front, I just turn around and start walking the other way. All it takes is a whistle and she comes flying back to her mom.

Haha! Same thing with Koda! She has even head butted some doors open, not the bathroom door though phew! And yes every time I close a door, you can bet money that she will be standing out in the hallway with her nose pressed up against the door. Maybe they follow their moms around so much because they know we are the bearers of food. And they obviously love us haha!

Someone made a comment about them being 'needy'. My berner, who I adored and who returned the favor 10-fold, was this way. Newfs seem to feel my presence, and not justify rising when I move to the next room for a kleenex. They seem to understand that I'll be back within 5 or 7 seconds, so just hang-tight. My berner never felt that. I, too, thought it was neediness to the extreme. Weird people who have no other adoring forces in their lives may love this: I did not. I immediately went back to my incredibly wonderful Newf breed who seems comfy with my comings and goings without completely removing my breathing space!! To each our own!!!!

When we first got him Thunder immediately followed me as I moved from room to room. Then it got so he was like my precious Kody and would give DH a look which said-"PLEASE make her stay put, I'm tired". Now he gives me about 5 minutes and if I haven't come back then he comes looking for me.

Ha when we got Jetta as a rehome, the previous owner told us to be careful, she likes to bolt, bad on the leash (told us to double leash her) etc.....are you kidding? she doesn't leave my side, take her for a walk, she sits there waiting for me until I pick up her leash, even if another human is coming to walk with us has to be in sight always. Sophie, however, doesn't care unless the suit cases come out, then she is pushiing past us out the door trying to get in the car with us!

Poppy likes to be with me, and follows me so closely she often hits me in the back of the heel with her toenails...ouch! BUT. I can tell her to stay and she will, until I return. If I haven't told her to stay, like if she was napping, and I leave and she wakes up in the bedroom with my husband and hears my voice, she will sit at the door and whine.

Yes, I have one of those...he will even follow me to the bathroom door and wait for me, which is better than before when he felt like he HAD to be in the bathroom with me.

Buddy has a terrible time of it if James and I move in opposite directions, he really doesn't know who to follow.

As a side note, and kinda drifting into the TMI area... has anyone else's sex life suffered? With Buddy it's 'all your lovins belong to us', even a quick smootch in the kitchen will have him running in from the mud room where he was sleeping. When the kids were little we just had to wait till they were asleep. Buddy can sense nookie from anywhere in the house and wake up. It's getting to be a bit of a challenge sneaking in a snog now and again.

That describes Hannah perfectly when she was younger. I remember the first night I had her home. She was actually IN the bathroom with me and I got in the shower. Suddenly I hear her yowling like a banshee.
I panic, thinking she has gotten herself into trouble somewhere. I open the shower door and bolt out dripping wet, only to see her sitting right there looking up at me "What'cha doin' in there? I wanna come in, too"...

Sophie is now my bathroom door guarder.

Gabriel used to be like that..But now that he is a bit older, if I leave a room and he is comfy he will open one eye to see if anything interesting might happen, then he will follow if he deems it worthwhile.

When we are at our cottage and I start packing up the car, then yes, I have a couple of velcro newfs. But otherwise, no.
