Be honest with your vet as to what Tuggs has been given as far as any meds that he/she may be unaware of to avoid any unintentional drug interactions and odds are whichever anti-inflammatory/analgesic you choose should be fine. Also, pre-surgical bloodwork can also help with making such decisions. If all is normal, I wouldn't hesitate to use Rimadyl (or generic version, Novox). I have used Rimadyl and now Novox with no ill effects on my Newfs since it arrived on the market 10 years ago or so. I've used Deramaxx on a few (osteosarcoma victims) but they did seem to develop stomach issues. I've probably witnessed much more stomach/GI upset and lethargy from using Tramadol, however, so I'm not so eager to add that to the analgesic protocol for my gang.
