Oliver amd the Christmas tree

Well Oliver just turned 11 months old. Not previouly owning a male Newfoundland I wasn't sure quite to expect when we brought the Christmas tree in the house. I am glad to report while Oliver was very interested in the tree he did not lift his leg. I am so happy. Happy holidays all.

Good Boy Oliver! We have a large floor plant. When Snuffles moved here, as he walked by it one of the first times, he started to lift his leg on it. It was in the livingroom and that was a "off limits" room so he was being escorted by me and I caught him before he did anything. Never had a problem since.

I always thought maybe he thought it was a tree since his old home had nothing like that.

Happy Holidays back at you!

That sounds encouraging. I also have my first male newfy and I've been putting off setting up the Christmas tree. Between Murphy who's 9 mths and the kitty, I'm not sure what's going to happen.

Never had a male lift his leg on our trees either. Can't remember if Pooka gave it a try the first Christmas or not, but I know they don't do it now. We just put up two of our three and got them situated - have to run back to the nursery to pick up the third...he gently nosed them when we brought them into the house, and has since ignored them.

Watering the trees however gets his full attention, and it's an uphill battle to keep his floogers out of the pitcher of water!

I'm not sure if I'm the only person that didn't know this, but they make plastic ornaments that look just as nice as the real ones (I think so anyway). Michael's has them on sale for 50% off. I bought some to put on the bottom part of the tree in case Mason (kitty) gets interested in the tree, or Murphy takes a few out with his tail while walking by.

Ours is also 11 months and our first. He didn't get the big tree, but he demolished the knee high, fake, corny laser light tree that used to twirl in circles. I found the branches all over the yard.

I have to tell you that I had to laugh out loud when I read your post.

We also have a small tree in my daughters room. No lifting the leg or ripping it to shreds.. Thank goodness.

I hope things work out better for you in the tree category....Happy Holidays...
