Oh Seamus

I had just settled on the couch for a little laptop computer time and had both boys at my feet, one on each side of me. They were kind of laying nose to nose with a little space between them. It was a peaceful moment when all was right with the world. Then Seamus started growling quietly. I thought he must be dreaming. He kept growling this low growl and Bentley was just chillin', minding his own business.

After this went on for a few minutes, I looked down to see just why Seamus was growling. Well, I guess that's what a dog is supposed to do when he's guarding the bag of oat FLOUR that he stole from my baking cart. Seriously, Seamus, FLOUR ?

That scary growl is what was keeping Bentley away from the oat FLOUR. I'm sure. I mean, who wouldn't want to eat a 5 pound bag of oat flour. And really, I baked you treats today. Wasn't that enough?

Sorry Suse but by NN rules you are the one at fault for it being where he could reach it. He was only saving you from having to clean it up if Bentley got a hold of it and decided to distribute it through out the house. Good job Seamus. ;)

I guess I should be counting my blessings and giving Seamus even more treats for saving the day! :D

What did you do first? Scold him for growling at his brother, or for taking your flour? (Or did you just laugh at his silly self?)

Is it bad that I just laughed at his silly self? Had it been "real" food I think I would have taken it more seriously. Looking down and seeing a chewed bag of FLOUR took me totally off guard. I thought he was dreaming!

That is funny. I can imagine the look on your face when you saw what he was "resource guarding." And, Bentley is like... whatever, dude.

Silly Seamus. You're supposed to wait until the human makes BREAD or COOKIES with the flour before stealing the finished product!

Trust me, I know.

I think Seamus may be smarter that you give him credit for! He KNEW what that flour was for, He wanted you to get up off your butt and make him some more cookies!!!
He was trying to wait patiently, but you just weren't getting his subtle hints.

Too funny! Now, how did you figure out which one did the actual taking? Are you sure Seamus wasn't just tattling on his bro for stealing the flour? Or maybe they were planning to split the loot, but Seamus was really saying, "Not here, not now! She'll take it away for certain!" Yup, I believe both are completely innocent, the cat did it!

Yeah, that must be it. Seamus is such a good boy and has never, ever gotten into mischief before, so you must be right!! :D
