Obie's evacuating

I hated watching Jose pull away with Obie & the cats. But, that's life in the Hurricane zone. He's headed for a friend's home in north Louisiana. I must stay because of my job as a news producer. This storm is not as big a threat as many, but it does raise the spector of potentially going days without power and I just don't see that as an option with Obie in August in Louisiana. I miss them already and feel bad for my husband and the six hour drive with a drooling dog and two really pissed off cats in crates! Luckily he has a friend along for the ride. Wish us well here in N.O. We always seem to need it.

Stay safe! My sister and family were coming up to Chicago from Farmerville LA for my sons wedding on Saturday. They've decided to leave tomorrow night to hopefully get ahead of the storm.

Stay safe. I just seen on the news that NO has installed pumping station around the city. They said one station pumps enough water to fill an olympic size pool in less than 5 seconds. I hope and pray you don't need to use them.

I assume the timing is causing a lot of anxiety - 7 years to the day of Katrina.

It was a good decision. We were without power (for only three hours) after a thunderstorm...but during that time I was, in my mind, making plans on what to do with the girls if the outage went on for longer because of the heat and humidity we had during that time.

I was thinking about you guys all day yesterday. I'm glad to see Obie and the kitties are going somewhere safe and that will keep power, but I imagine it must be lonely there without everyone. It sucks being responsible all the time, doesn't it!?
