Newfs aren't the only smarty pants

So, this evening, hubby and I went out for a quick bite and on the way home had to pick the male child up from his primary job at a local supermarket. Pull into a parking space, next to an suv that had a website advertisement for K9 rescue and SC plates. Shut off my vue while we waited for the child to be sprung and as we're sitting there, I notice that the suv is running and there are 3 Weimers inside - one in the back seat and one each in the front seats, looked like youngest in the back, slightly older in the passenger seat and a grey muzzled, very dignified looking one in the driver's seat. Sitting in my car, windows down, listening to the radio and chatting with hubby when I hear the windows on the suv being lowered. So I think to myself, ah, the owner must have triggered the windows and is on his/her way out of the store. Next thing I know, the dog in the passenger seat is sticking her head out the window (which was opened all the way) and looking at hubby and myself. The rear window had opened about half way and the younger weimer in the back seat had stuck his head out and was barking at us (I figure him for a "teenager"). I watched, but didn't see anyone approaching that looked like they might belong to the suv. Next thing I know, the driver's window opens and the "distinguished gentleman" is also poking his head out - watching the front of the store. As it didn't appear that anyone was nearby that belonged to the vehicle, and since there were stickers stating that these were search dogs, I didn't want to leave them there with the windows open and the horrible possibilities that could go along with that; so hubby went into the store to track down the owner. While he was inside, I got out and spotted stickers on the windshield that said search dogs/cadaver search dogs... and felt much better about tracking down the owner - there's a lot of time/training and money tied up in those dogs and would have hated to have them either jump out (though I think they would by then) or have someone take off with the car and dogs. Hubby returned in a few minutes with the owner who was grateful that someone had alerted him, he unlocked the car, put the windows up - after sending the older dog back to the back seat - relocked and went back to wait for whomever was with him. By this time the male child had arrived for his ride home and just as we're getting ready to pull out, the "distinguished gentleman" relocates himself to the driver's seat and DELIBERATELY hits the button(s) to roll down the windows! I watched him hit them! TOO funny!!! So hubby goes back into the store, finds the owner right away and lets him know "they've done it again". The owner comes out laughing, muttering something about silly dogs, and tells Grant (the distinguished gent) who's decided that he'd better get out of the driver's seat toot sweet, that he'd better go hide! Told hubby that the dog(s) had figured out quickly how to open the windows - the controls are on the armrest - and he'd just wait in the car. He thanked us again for watching them and climbed in to keep the dogs company.

Took the dogs to the McD's one day. The windows in the back seat were down a few inches for the dogs. Zak, my son's Sibe, stepped on the button while his head was out the window and nearly strangled himself! From then on, I always lock the windows so the dogs can't do that! Scared the crap out of me.

DH had a little black terrier named Mighty Mite that used to do that when it was raining and DH wouldn't open the windows for Mite's breath of fresh air. Just moved to the back seat and opened his own. They can be pretty cagey, that's for sure.

We laughed the whole way home. Opening the windows was so sneaky, too! When Grant came back up into the driver's seat he did this stretching maneuver as he opened the windows! You just barely saw him hit the buttons it was such a good fake out!
