Just had to post I made the Newfie Breakfast Bar recipe today.... I had 6 Newfs sitting in the kitchen ... eyes all at the oven! They are an all time favorite.. and great to make on a cold winters day!

Brtistles wants to know if you can send her some? Her Mom has bought the banana's at least twice and still no newf breakfast bars. Bristles says "Bad newfie mom bad"

Newf Breakfast Bars

I love this recipe because it makes a lot & it's so easy, you just throw everything into the bowl, mix & pat onto 2 greased cookie sheets, no rolling or cookie cutters.

  • 12 c. oatmeal
  • 4 c. whole wheat flour
  • >8 eggs
  • 3/4 c. oil
  • 2/3 c. honey
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 large can solid pack pumpkin (optional)
  • 3 to 4 mashed bananas (optional)
Preheat oven to 325. Grease 2 cookie sheets
Dump everything into a VERY large bowl. Mix this whole mess together (I use my hands, AFTER I take my rings off, another story), pat onto greased cookie sheets & bake at 325 for 1 hour. After 1 hour turn oven off, crack oven door & allow cookies to cool in oven. Break into whatever size you want (mine like LARGE).
These freeze really well. My guys love these, they sit in front of the oven waiting.

Yes ! THAT is the recipe! I used can pumpkin today, I have used applesauce and they love that too... !!

I am a little afraid . . .

Storm eats this without baking . . .

Should I bake it?

Is the Nutritional value the same????

I usually mix with raw goat's milk and some green tripe (yes . . . gross);

and just feed. . . .

Did I do a Faux Paus ( Or should I say Faux- PAW)?

I have a couple hints.. that I do.. mix all the wet ingredients first than add the wheat flour and oats.. and when it says a large bowl.. use the largest you have! The recipe fills 2 cookie sheets. AND when it states leave the oven door open to cool... that is the real torture part for the Newfs!!

Banana's and pumpkin... This sounds like something Neko would cook for herself if she could cook! I guess I have to make these for her. She is going to love these! I'm so excited!!!

Could you cook them in a pizza oven? (Our oven smokes and smells like burning everytime we use it...)
