Newf as a Second Addition

Thanks again for the advice all.

Jackie - sounds like we are in very similar situations indeed. You're right though - WE know our Bailey and it is just a matter of finding the right Newf brother for her and us. I am so excited about your new addition and to hear how it goes. Will you introduce River to her new brother at the kennel or somewhere else? Kind of curious as to how you might approach this. Does keep me posted!

Welcome from Fergus Ontario, both of my dogs are rescue's and there is nothing like helping an animal that needs you to make there life real again. I currently have a foster and am enjoying making a difference to a dog that might have been discarded. Think about rescue you might really like it.

welcome neighbor!! we are in port perry, ontario not far from you. the thing with breeders not allowing your dog with the puppies , i would imagine that the mother probably would not like to have a strange dog around her puppies?? good luck with your search!!!!

Welcome from Central Oregon. We started with 2 girls 6 months apart and they are total best buds. Now the 2 little ones are best buds. I think personalitly is more important then gender as well. Good luck.

Welcome from NW FL. We have 1 Newf who is a rehome, 3 1/2 when he came to us. He joined 13 other dogs of all types, ages and both sexes. He and the young male Rhodesian Ridgeback used to have a few words for one another but nothing serious. He has gradually become the alpha in the house (think it's size more than anything else) but all get along very well. We always introduce on neutral ground and with so many it's one at a time., then 2 more together gradually increasing the numbers. In 35 years we've only had one problem that could not be resolved.
