Hi Everyone,
I just found out about this place, I have been owned by newfies for 16 years, right now we have a 10 month black newfie named Bentley and his half sister 16 month old landseer Belle, for my husband Ron and I (glory) there is no other breed, they are the love of our life.We have been married 35 years. We live in Wisc.
I am currently tryng water work with them both, Belle is doing great, she has only gone 3 times and already dived off the boat and let me grab her tail and swim to shore, and Bentley is still shy of the water, he only wades in, any suggestions as to how to get him to go in and actually swim, he did get on the row boat and was taken out about 80 feet from shore and took a dive into the water and swam to shore but then again he would only wade in the water. He wants to go in but just doesn't.
Any input would be helpful.

Give him time! he is only 10 months old, he is immature, dont push him, he will do more as he watches your girl.
let him watch her work with you guys, than work with him, if he has a comfort zone, let him have it for now.
be patient!!

Hi Everyone,
Actually there is a NEW site in Wisconsin just voted on and added for the NCNC members. Crazy Dog Lady on here, and her husband have been the contacts for this site and have made all the arrangements. Please check with her by PM for any details about the area and when the practices take place. SOOOOOO Wisconsin members there is a closer place for you now!

We got Mudji a Ruffwear life vest to help with his swimming. Several people here have them and I think really like them.

Welcome..

Thank you all for the great welcome, Shiocton is about 15 miles north of Appleton on State route 47. When you get to cty rd A turn left and it is about 4 miles to the YMCA camp. There are signs up for the camp , then you turn right and it just down the road a bit.
The place is perfect for this purpose, it is double fenced so once you are in there your newf can not get out, the pond is really nice, and clean.
Hope we can meet up one day.

Hi Everyone,
I've been off the boards for a couple of weeks, and am just catching up. Glory...welcome to NN!

Don't worry too much about Bentley, he'll get the hang of it! We're not going to push him, he has a lot of growing up to do. At some point, curiosity will get the better of him! ;)

SARNEWFIE...Yes, this site would be very close for you. From where you live to our house is almost exactly one hour. And the pond site is literally 6 miles and 10 minutes from our house. I'm going to pm you.

Hey Garden Girl, I just pm'd your hubby regarding upcoming training times.

If anyone is interested, and wants to find out more, pop me a pm!

Welcome to both NN and NCNC! Even though I am a Flatlander, I am 1/2 a mile from the border and by interstate agreement I don't need a passport to go into WI. LOL
