Well - not sure what to make of this. What they found in the MRI is that he has enlarged ventricles and smaller brain mass (sort of go hand in hand). They don't know if this is something he was born with or he has some kind of degenerative condition. They have seen somewhat similar brain abnormalities in very old dogs but never in a one year old. This could definitely be causing the seizures. If the anti seizure medicine controls the seizures then we know it is something he was born with. If the medicines do not work, it means it is something degenerative in the brain. In addition to causing seizures it can cause various behavior problems.
So - I was right - I do have one of "jerry's kids" and I can only pray that the medicines work. I will be picking him up tomorrow evening and meeting with the neuro vet then. She will go over the MRI pictures with me to show me what they found.
Right now he is fine - they are going to switch him from IV meds to oral and just monitor him.
They also took an xray of his leg since that is what he was supposed to go in for in the first place and I won't know until tomorrow if that checks out okay.
Now I really need to talk to the breeder. Anyone ever heard of this condition before?
