New Puppy Just Arrived in Eastern PA

Hello everyone, my name is Tom and I thought I should introduce myself as I have been reading a terrific amount of information on this forum for about the last 6 weeks. We live in Douglassville, PA which is about 50 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

I have waited to introduce myself and until we had our new puppy. My wife and I (Debbie) picked him up this past Saturday. We could not be happier, he is a great puppy and will grow into a fantastic dog.

What surprised us both is that in less than a day, we have bonded, he follows one of us everywhere. When we are stoped he just lays down at our feet. His personality is just what I wanted and a major reason for getting a newf. We are very much dog people and have had several dogs before Thor. We are very lucky to be able to add him to our family.

I want to thank all of you on this forum, we have learned so much from reading the different threads and of course the stickies. Without your help we clearly would have ended up with a BYB instead of the breader that we did find.

We look forward to being a part of this group, sharing and learning as we go.

Thanks, we had a large dog before, so a fenched in yard is a must for us. As for his hair, I sent a picture out to my son and his girlfriend replied, "Who put him in the dryer on the fluff cycle!" He is very soft and fuzzy, too bad that won't last forever!

Hello Tom and Thor. I live in the town right next to you, no more than 10 min. apart. I would love to meet you, Debbie, and Thor. Is there any chance Thor could come to the Bark for Life on Oct. 6th @ Oley Fairgrounds? The dogs only have to walk a 1/4 mi. Better yet, can you all come to our Newf get together at Ocean City, Md. Oct. 25-27th? We all stay with our Newfs at the Windjammer condos right there on the ocean. There's more info. under the get together section. Please do try to come. We would so love a puppy, they get special treatment.
I suppose I jumped the gun a bit. I just realized puppies should have their contact with other dogs minimized until their initial immunizations are done. I can't remember the exact age though.
If you ever get to any of the local parades (Temple, Topton, Oley, Boyertown & Wilson) in October, just watch for a Landseer (name is Chumley) pulling a cart advertising for a canine training facility. You can't miss him. His harness is loaded down with obnoxiously loud jingle bells.
Oh, and congratulations on your new addition to the family!

Welcome from Virginia. Thor is a handsome lad and sounds like he's got the perfect personality. Enjoy these puppy days, they don't last long. And take LOTS of pictures. lol

Stacy - Debbie has it on the calendar to go to the walk at Oley Fairgrounds, I will be out of town that day, so look for a women and the best looking Newfie pup you have ever seen. I will be calling the Windjammer today and set up our reservation for the get together in OC, MD. We look forward to meeting you and Chumley as well.
