New Car

The selling point, for me, when I got the CRV...was the picnic table! Loved it and, of course, the reliability and smooth ride.

We purchased a Mitsubishi Outlander (not the sport version) and I couldn't be happier. I shopped with the cargo area space as my highest requirement so I could transport these two and it's worked out fine. I do use a ramp, but ours fits nicely right behind the folded rear seats. I did buy new because I wanted the 7 year bumper to bumper warranty, and I love the factory GPS. We shopped all the smaller SUVs and I found this vehicle's rear section interior was flat, where others often had an incline due to the seats.

What ever you chose take the dogs with you to buy make sure they fit. beside it is fun to look at the salesman's face when you show up with a furry drooling Newf.

Honda CRV EX-L it is; go to pick it up tomorrow!
Almost a month without a car, it gets old driving
a 1 ton Dodge dually everywhere. Thanks for all
the advice. Our town is still a mess, but it is getting better.
Everytime I go to my investment property in Lavallette, I get depressed, the devastation down there is unbelievable, my house down there did not too bad, but the damage in the surrounding area is bad, this willbe a different type of season this year.

Glad you guys are ok, Mike. Everything else can be re-built, families can't.

The boys fit in the CRV well? I'm reluctantly thinking about a new car; I love my Explorer, but it's falling apart. I'm pretty sure it needs a new transmission, it sucks on mileage, I'm pretty sure it's haunted, and now my odometer is going backwards. ( I'm not kidding, it's digital and it used to be around 94k and it's now 90k!)

My daughter will be driving next year ( EEK!) and I really would like something reliable. I'll have to check out the CRV. Let us know how you like it!!

Suburu Outback fits 2 full grown Newfs with room for a 3rd, drives like a dream, all wheel drive. I "downgraded" from my Chevy Tahoe to this, and it has the same exact cargo Newf area as the Tahoe did, just portrait instead of width wise. I also have a Thule rack on the roof, where I can carry 2 crates, a grooming table, water equipment, dryer and chairs. Works very well.

As I mentioned above, we have a CRV and a Pilot and love them both. The only issue with the CRV is that we can take Elvis OR his crate - but they both fit in the Pilot. If Elvis would ride in the trunk part of the CRV we could probably make it work, but he refuses and must take up the entire back seat.

I learned to drive on my grandfather's Honda accord - he bought it the year I was born! Take good care of a Honda and it will last a long, long time.

Toyota Sienna Mini-van here. Hauls all our crap plus some when we add the cargo carrier to the hitch........

Meg, what year? We had an 07 outback and Cooper could not fully stand in the back, definitely no room for 3 with kids. However we have an 03 Forester and the headroom for Newfs is fine. I liked the passenger comforts of the outback though so I'd love to find a model year with Newf space. :)

Got CRV today, it was a good choice, great driving car, alot of features, big improvement from our 12 yr old tracker, yes we fit 2 newfs in the tracker, & they loved it; they liked my truck more, but we got by; when Mickey was alive, we packed all 3 guys into the tracker, never no problems with that car in 12 years until it went swimming. Hope the CRV is as trouble free!!

The Outback (and Forester for that matter) had a major body restyling in either 2009 or 2010. The Outback's become more of an SUV and less of a wagon.
