I can't believe the day has come when I would create a post in the Rainbow Bridge forum. We lost our beloved girl, Nellie.
I remember the day in 2002 (like it was yesterday), we went to pick up Nellie in Indiana, we were so happy to finally get our first Newf.
........we took our baby girl to the Emergency Vet in the early morning hours to help her on her journey. Our daughter, Missy came by last night to say goodbye to Nellie, she said something so comforting to me, it really helped ease the pain. She said we gave Nellie such a good life, no dog could have asked for or wanted more. Through my tears, I wanted to tell you that I admired Nellie's spunk, her confidence, her bossiness, but most of all, her zest for life. She was so inquisitive, with boundless energy and a love and trust for every human being that crossed her path. Every day was a new adventure for Nellie and she greeted each day with gusto. To borrow the lyrics U2, if Nellie could talk to each of you right now, she would tell you....it's a beautiful day...don't let it slip away.
I know some of you may wonder, Nellie did not die from osteosarcoma, her tumor was more than half gone now. She died from acute pancreatitis, a complication of osteosarcoma. She was such a sturdy Newf, never sick, ever, so the diagnosis of osteosarcoma was so hard to believe. I promised her before we said goodbye that a day would not go by without us recalling a wonderful memory of Nellie and all the love & joy she brought to our lives.

Nellie through the years...
She had the most wonderful, expressive eyes
She loved to swim and could swim circles around most dogs....
She loved our grandson, James. I'm pretty sure she thought he was her baby.
We love you baby girl, until we meet again.....
