Name that Newf

I know I am putting the cart before the Newf! But I am hoping that there is a puppy in my near future! There is a litter on the ground that if all goes as planned we will be bringing home a sweet baby boy in the future.

I am racking my brain for names as I want just the right one. If anyone can help in the name suggestion process I would greatly appreciate it! A little background. The father is from Austria and Switzerland so at first I was thinking German names. I like unique but not crazy. I also like simple. Henry was the perfect name for our last Newf.

Help name my baby please!!! And please keep your fingers crossed that all goes as planned!

Thanks!

Good luck on the possible upcoming boy!

FWIW, seeing that you have a "Henry", the first thing that came to mind was "Higgins".

Adelfried-Noble protector of the peace
Hans-( I just have a cousin named Hans, and thought I'd throw it out)
Adler-Eagle
Aimery-bravery and power
Alaric-noble ruler
Alphonse-noble and prompt
Alvaro-noble guardian
Archibald-precious or true and bold ( Archie is cute!)

Ok, I have to get back to work, I'm sure everyone can come up with much better names!! Also, my german is limited to curse words my cousins taught me, so this is all courtesy of google.

I vote for Higgins! That's cute!

Sorry - no suggestions either... but fingers and toes crossed for your puppy!

  1. BERNHARD: Old High German name composed of the elements bero "bear" and hard "brave, hardy, strong," hence "bold as a bear."
You could call him Bernie

the only german names I can think of are Hanz and Franz. When we lived in Germany my boss was Mr. Fiedler. Hanz Fiedler LOL

Oh, you wouldn't know it because "Nicky" seems so straight-forward, but I am obsessive when it comes to names. Nicky is really Nicolette, the French feminine version of Nicholas as in St. Nicholas. Her call name translates to "the daughter of father Christmas". :)

Here are a few cute ones in addition to the ones you've already heard!

Claus
Dieter
Gunther
Heinz
Kaiser
Leonhardt
Ludwig
Waldo
Wolf

Happy naming!!

I have friends in Germany who have a Bernese, named Ludwig, and it is a great name for a big dog. What about a name from Germanic mythology? Thor, Odin or Siegfried?
