Ok..we just purchased 4 acres of land in SC. It has been a dream of ours to have a mini-farm. We have goats coming, I have 3 dogs, 2 newfies, and a sheep dog mix. We plan on expanding in the future to add sheep and mini-donkey's as well.

I am also very interested in fostering/rescue once we are situated. Our problem is...we can't come up with a name!! So far we have Four Acres Farm.....Animal Haven Acres...Fuzzy Feet Acres...can you tell we are not that good at this...If anyone has suggestions...Please let us know!!!

Thanks,
Chris

Is it wooded? Stream? Meadows? Hills? What are your critters names? Breeds? There may be something to build on in one of those areas, like a combination of your animals names or breeds, or your names?

Years ago, my folks bought a small farm (about 13 acres). It was two large hills and a valley. When they had thunderstorms, the noise seemed to echo around the hills. They named the farm ThunderHill.

Hope this helps!

Picking out names is always fun!

I refer to my house as "The Black Dog Inn"

My dad's house is up on a hill and he calls it "Puppy Paw Hills"

I agree with naming the place after "something" in the natural environment. That way, even if "The Dog House" is sold in the future, the new owners MAY decide to keep the name, and it can continue on for many generations.

Our property was named Ardea long before we got here. It means "Heron" in Latin. We have lots of Herons that "stalk" our pond, and steal our fish - if the dogs don't see them and chase them off.

My screen name, Ardeagold, is a mixture of our "farm" name and a reference to our Golden Retrievers. (It was chosen prior to Newfs being in our lives).

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! The property is flat, we have a ton of trees and vines..kind of a mess right now, we are slowly clearing. I have 2 newfies...Ben is 2 and Ruby is 3 months. Our sheep dog mix is Hunter and he is almost 3.

We do have lot's of deer that roam around and we border a cow farm. The town is very small and we are pretty much out in boonesville. It is very much out in the country, very quiet and peaceful, we love it!!

Keep the names coming! We would love all the input we can get!

Boonesville Animal Sanctuary

Shady Acres Animal Sanctuary

Four Paws Sanctuary

Droolsbury Farm

Question: You mention fostering rescues. Will that be Newf Rescue or all breeds?

From your description, variety of animals, and future rescue plans, the first that came to mind was Peaceable Kingdom (although, there is already a rescue org. using this name).

Peaceable (or Peace) Harbor
Peaceable Farms
Safe Harbor
Arbor Acres
Arbor Farms

or any combination of those.

I like "Droolsbury Farm"...but maybe that wouldn't do the goats and sheep justice?

Quadroolped Farm? hehe OK, couldn't resist.

Woodland Farmstead

Woolland Station (wool for sheep)

Deerfield Estate
