Motion Sickness

Help! We started water training and we have to drive about 45 minutes one-way to get to our destination. Holly can usually make it about 20 minutes before barfing. Windows are usually open, except on super hot days. I've tried feeding less food (still barfs it up) and no food (barfs bile). One person suggested 25mg benedryl, and an old thread said ginger cookies. Maybe ginger pills?

Rescue Remedy might help, a little, but usually motion sickness is inner ear related, so....
Ginger cookies are wonderfu,l and ginger pills, but the cookies cost less :D

2 things to consider....

1. How warm is it where she's is in the vehicle? Many SUV's are not equiped with A/C in the rear and the A/C may be cool in the front but not in the rear. Windows down with warm air flowing is not going to cool a Newf in a fur coat. A Newf who is too warm will get sick very easily.

2. How fast are you going around curves, and up/down hills? Riding in the back of any vehicle gives a different motion and can cause all sorts of balance issues that can upset the tummy. Slow down, and see if it makes a difference.

How old is she? We got our Echo when she was 4 1/2 months old and she threw up the whole way home - 7 + hours. She outgrew it and loves to ride anywhere now.

gentle driving and valerian drops to ease the stress

lots of wet wipes and a comfortable blanket with an article of clothing to give her a comforting scent
