More Diamond Recalls

I'm sure more are coming. Just a matter of them going through all that were made around the time that original batch was made. Can you imagine going through all that?

Nothing wrong with Pro Plan...I, along with MANY people have used it for years and with great results...:)

I agree that Purina Pro Plan (Selects, Shredded, etc.) are much better than they get credit for. Mila was on that for the first year, but I've had such good luck with the Nature's Domain...she's done so well on it, so I'd hate to switch to really anything else, but the recalls just make me all squicky (even though ND hasn't been affected by this. Yet anyway.). Urg.

I don't think it matters. One dog company makes more than one dog food and many companies buy from the same market their grains and left over body parts from other animals. So while at this time it is limited to Diamond , in the future it could be someone else. That's why when we had that breakout of dog deaths more than one company was involved. Of course hopefully from that we became stricter on what we buy from China for our pets.

Quoted from the news link..
The company said one bag tested positive for Salmonella, and the recall is being conducted as a precautionary measure. No dog illnesses have been reported.
Look at it this way folks, maybe they caught it quick enough before the problem got wide spread. A bad company may not have reacted so quickly allowing more tainted product to get in the retail supply line and then deny there was a problem The big companies have the legal resources to drag it out when it does happen. I think it is all part of what they call it Risk Management

Crap happens and in today's manufacturing processes it happens very fast. I feed TOTW, and I am not bothered that much by it. As long is there is not a major supply issue for the retail customer, I am glad they caught it early and reacted.

That would be the worry, that another company with the legal resources would be having their food made at the same company that makes Diamond and is not as quick to recall. Actually they don't need much legal resources, dogs are property and you can't recoup much on property so until that changes then all dog products become income for the companies but a source of danger for their owners.
