Metro Dryer on a budget

We bought the Metro AF quick draw 1.3 hp dryer on Monday after realizing that the "human" dryer with the cool setting just was not cutting it.
I know that there is lots of talk of the big Metro's & K9 dryers here, but that just was not in our budget.
I bought it locally & paid more then it goes for online, but i wanted to be able to return it easier if it did not work to my satisfaction.
Been using it daily on Bär since Monday night & boy what a difference. I got all his undercoat out now.
It takes no time at all to dry him after walking in the rain & playing in the wet yard.
The first time I used it when he was wet I got a shower, it just blew the water of him.
So, for those of you out there with a small budget, but would still like to get a good dryer I recommend this as being able to handle a Newf.

Have you tried to dry after swimming or a bath when his fur has soaked through to the the skin. I think you'll find that this dryer will take a long time to dry your dog.

Dryers, like anything, are priced differently for a reason. The quick draw is a very handy little hand held dryer for touch ups, and, it might work for a little rain on your dog, but will not dry a wet newf.

Here are the specs for comparison...
Quick Draw..... 85 CFM, 8 amps, 950 watts
K-9 III.......62,000 CFM, 19 amps, 2098 watts

So you can see there is quite a difference in the two dryers. If you have your dog groomed and will just be using this for in between grooming sessions, then it is a handy dryer to have around, but cannot replace the bigger high velocity dryers.

Or if you have 4 Newfie to dry - LOL. Good luck with it, sounds nice for those little jobs. Still like my K9-III

I just purchased the K9 III from Lynn and I LOVE IT! I had a Metro Master Blaster and the K9 not only cut my drying time in half, it penetrates and removes the undercoat better then any undercoat brush I have ever used. I highly recommend it!

I did not mean to imply that it works the same as the K9 lll.
I know there is a big difference, but not everybody can afford to spend that kind of money on a dryer. I posted this review to let people know there is a cheaper alternative to the big expensive dryers.
I do all the grooming myself, none of my dogs, past or present ever went to a groomer.
For the last 20 years i used a hairdryer on my rough Collie, long haired Saint Bernard & our Newf. It took a lot of time, but it got the job done.
When I used this dryer on Bär, he was not just a little wet from rain, he was drenched. With the human dryer he would still have been damp the next day. With this Metro he was dry within an hour of blowing him. Not to mention the wet dirty spots I had to clean from the walls in our porch.
So, please don't think I want to say, that this is the same or equal to the K9 lll, but that it does a good job for the price.

Sorry, but your comparison is a bit off.
You got FPM for the K9 lll listed & CFM for the quick draw

Quick draw - 18000 FPM - 85 CFM
K9 lll - 60921 FPM - 245 CFM

just thought I better clarify this, for those interested.

You are correct that it is easier to compare CFM to CFM and FPM to FPM

we bought our Laube blaster of ebay and even though its not as powerful as the ones I would like it does the job at at only £56 ($77) it was a bargain, perhaps one day I can afford a better one but not at the moment
