MCK question

Going to buy my first MCK and was just wondering if you should use the same blade on the chest as you do around the ears? I am so nervous to use this on the dogs because Leroy is going to start showing again in a few months and if I make a mistake my handler will not be happy. He has given me the ok to go ahead and do it, but to be careful that I don't take to much hair out. So before I buy it I just want to make sure I get the right one. Extra coarse-right?

YOu want the 18 blade double wide. Purchase it at www.groomersmall.com

I wouldn't use it around the ears. The chest is fine and so is the body. You have to judge the amount to take out so you won't make your dog bald for showing.

Thanks for the information. Just reading the words bald and showing in the same sentence made my stomach turn!:ah:

You will be ok using it on his chest. The hair comes out a little at a time, so you will be able to see when you have done enough and have the look you want.

Used the MCK for the first time the other day and I LOVE IT! Neither of the dogs have any bald spots either!

Just received mine recently too. I'm going slow, a little at a time. Its amazing how much hair comes out with this tool. Thanks, Jeannie, for the tip and link.
