Kindle Fire

My Kindle Fire bit the dust a few days ago. It won't charge. It was the first Fire they made. I called Amazon and they offered me a replacement at a discounted price. I got the newer Kindle Fire HD today and the key board won't work properly. So I called them. They had me shut off all the settings for the keyboard - autocorrect and so on. I told them I didn't purchase a new Kindle and have to shut off all the keyboard settings to get it to work properly. :grrr: They are sending me a (another) new one.

Technology is so great when it works and so frustrating when it doesn't!!! I had my B&N Nook die the other day (one of the first ones out also) and I miss my books being so portable. Hope the new one works perfect for you.

Love the portability of having books on devices when I travel, but there still is nothing like a book in hand! Good luck with the replacements..

Oh, my god, the Kindle. Lordy Lordy. I bought one, after months of prevaricating, one of the older basic ones before the fire came out. Well, in the 8 months following, I went through 7 (SEVEN!! Seven!!) KINDLES!!! Finally, they told me I could send the last one back for a refund.

In the end, after all the "What? We don't know what's wrong! How could this be happening to you?? We're sooooo sorry!" a customer service rep told me that they can't be compressed at all, don't put it in your purse, even with a cover, etc, and that even holding it with too tight a grip can cause it to malfunction (i.e. die forever). So, no more kindles for Courtnie. My step-daughter Sara has one, though (Grandma got it for her for Christmas) and it's great for her so far.

I am getting the replacement because my old one won't charge. So last night I decided to put it on charge and it charged! Figures. Still I am going to go with the new one since this is the 2nd time it won't charge then starts to charge again.

I still have my old E Ink Kindle with keyboard. Works fine, but in the beginning, it wouldn't charge because there was a design flaw. It was due to the "hooks" inside of the cover I bought, where the Kindle "hooked" on. Once I broke the hooks off the inside cover, it worked perfectly. I eventually got another cover that doesn't have the hooks. Found the solution by googling.

As a side note, I've used the free internet option to read Newf Net every time my power has gone out. Saved my sanity. LOL

I bought a tesco hudl in the end.its a generic 7" tablet where l can pretty much do most things on

Tescos is a huge supermarket chain in the uk , what swung it for me was l could double up on my vouchers and got it for £60 instead of £120.

It has its teething troubles but works well.l think the problem with most of the mass marketed tablets is that they are so mass produced that quality and reliability go out of the window.

I love reading my books on my tablet though l still have a massive book collection too

I for one for my kids for Christmas. Kindle fire. Its so buggy and poorly designed now I see why this far we have bought iPads. Yes, they are worth 3-4 times the price because they work.

Must remember that Jane.I never thought of using my kindle for that. I love my kindle, no issues at all (touch wood) and it has been with me for quite a while. I have all my Training books on it and so handy to carry around.Mine lives in my backpack....I cannot read for long periods on mu I-pad, I find it quite straining on my eyes, but i do prefer the pictures ( like Turid Rugaas ones) on my I-pad, so all the books are on both
