I know I am not active here any more, but glancing through the forums I still see some familiar names. I was a member here long before my first newf came joined us. And I have made many friends through my connections here.
Keegan, my first newf, was entrusted to me by Xavier. She is known in a lot of newf circles because of her late boy Gomez. Keegan came to us a 5 months old. We lived in an apartment, so we didn't qualify to adopt through most rescue channels. But she gave us a chance, and our lives were forever changed because of it.
Keegan was the ultimate of social newfs. He participated in weekly Newf Strolls in Annapolis, stopping traffic and giving love to everyone he met. Monthly Newf "Romp and Swims" were he refused to retrieve a ball, but loved to swim. He was my constant companion when I gave up my "real" job to become a pet trainer and then a store manager for petsmart. He had the ultimate Newfie personality. He became a true Nana dog as we started our family.
Today we helped him cross the rainbow bridge. Just shy of his 12th birthday. He lived an amazing life full of love and fun. He wasn't sick, and he was happy until the very end. His body just failed him. RIP my sweet boy. I will miss you forever.
