Infractions Questions

I didn't know that, as I can see it Michelle. I guess then that you don't have any. Actually you don't have any!
I don't know why some people can't see it in their Profiles.
I'm another one who can't see an infractions tab in my profile. And I know that I have been asked to remove stuff from my signature line in the distant past...:p

Are we speaking of infactions, infractions, infatuations, or infarctions (which I am having right now)? I would love to have gold stars or points for any of the above next to my name.

Ok I have just a few things to say.

First only GAD and mods can see the infraction tab. If ever you get an infraction a PM is automatically sent. So if you have no PM stating so, you have none.

Second: We posted this as a request from all of you.

We will gladly answer any reasonable PM that is sent to us.

Some quick answers.

Infraction points stay active for 30 days.

If you accumulate 30 points within 30 days, you are "banned" for 7 days
If you accumulate 60 points within 30 days, you are "banned" for 1 month
If you accumulate 90 points within 30 days, you are banned permanently

"Banned" means you get a messages stating "You've been banned" (or something similar) when you log in. You cannot use any of the system resources like PMs, you cannot post, you cannot read messages and so-on.

Users who attempt to circumvent the banned status will be banned permanently and their IP addresses blocked.

The system has, indeed, been in place for years, but we very rarely use it, because there are few problems. I think I've used it once since I implemented it.

No one but you can see your own infractions except for mods and admins (I'm the only admin). I don't recall the details, but I think there's no page to see unless you get an infraction. I could be wrong about that - it's been a while.

In the 10+ years that Newf Net has existed, 16 people have been banned. It's just not something that we like to do. Still, we do get complaints that people break the rules and that I/we don't do anything about it, so this should help in that regard.

For a description of the rules, check the "Rules" link at the top of every page. I'll try and update that Rules document to reflect the point system when I get a chance.

I think this is a wonderful idea. I hope we get to see the points against the pot stirrers and tiger pokers under their user names. Will that be possible? I think public humiliation will help keep people in check.
Sorry - the system does not permit that. If someone is banned, you will see "banned" under their user names in posts. You cannot see other's infractions though, nor the reasons for bannination.

Well, to be fair, "bannination" isn't a real word. :)

I don't know where I first heard it, but I've seen it on forums for years. There are many derivatives:

Banninated
Bannination
Bannetoreum (where those who are banned go)

OK... I made that last one up.

GAD...are there points for multiple ID's on this forum? How about using anothers' ID to post? (like a family member's or a friend's ID)

From what I recall, that's against the rules too, right?

I Love SMITE. No one now-a-days knows what it means, unless they have seen the "Ted Commandments."

"I shall smiteth thee!" (Dog Love it)!
