I just heard on the news 3 tornados hit Henryville IN, the pictures look bad. Isn't there someone on here from Henryville? That town seems to ring a bell, to do with Newfies.
Have seen pictures on the news the last two days and hope everyone is safe. I can't imagine going through something like that. Everytime I start to whine about our grey, wet weather, I remind myself that we don't have tornadoes, hurricanes or blizzards. The rain isn't so bad afterall...
In 1974 we had 3 tornados go thru our town they were F4's, we had terrible destruction, and I can't remember for sure, but I think it was 7 deaths. Our home was hit, with across the ravine from us, and the downtown demilished, the High School also. We lost 120 huge trees, which saved the complete loss of our home.
I spent a rather tense 45 minutes this afternoon in the storage room underneath my stairs with the dogs. Every few minutes I'd sneak the door open just a bit, hear the EMS sirens still blaring, and duck back in.
One of the security lights on the back of the property came down, but it fell between the fence and the woods so no harm done.
I do have a good size deck/porch upstairs and at one point the wind was blowing so hard the hail came in across the span of the deck and was hitting the sliding door on the dining room.
Some big trees uprooted here. One mobile home and a few barns lost, but no injuries thank goodness.
Hoping all other NNers and their families are safe.
We just had strong winds, hail and lots of driving rain. A customer came to pick up his dog. He said they were stopped in traffic on the interstate and debris from a nearby tornado was falling all around them. I'd say that was too close for comfort.
More than scary - is is horrible. So many sad stories. Many deaths. A 14 month old baby is in critical condition here in Louisville and all 4 other family members died. Destruction surrounding Louisville, but the storms skipped the city. Please pray for the victims and donate to the Red Cross.
