Raven has been really itchy recently and yet she has been checked for fleas and mites at the vets.
Can't completely rule out environmental allergies as it's unseasonably warm here .

She has had advocate just in case she has picked up field or rabbit mites and am now awaiting allergy test results.

.she is on a raw diet to see if it helps.

The vet mentioned Apoquel if nothing improves .has anyone on here tried this?

Chase is on Apoquel. Love it! It is unbelievable stuff. Within 4 hours of taking her first dose she quit itching. It is a bit expensive but well worth every penny.

Thanks Jeannie.
Hopefully the allergy results will come back with something we missed but as we have tried everything else l just hope this works .

McGee is on apoquel. It really works! He is SUPER allergic to fleas. One bite can set off a whole body reaction. We have all our animals on flea control and give them garlic too but they can encounter fleas when they are out and about. We also did the Dr. Dobbs food sensitivity testing and removed those foods from his raw diet. They Vet said they couldn't rule out environmental allergies too. It's like a triple whammy!

Well allergy tests came back.dust mites, corn and rice.

Well she doesn't get grains so dust mites are the only thing left but we already have every control in place such as tiled floors, minimal soft furnishings so will be talking to our vets to see our next options.

Chase is allergic to mites too. One thing I found that really helps is putting her kibble in the freezer to kill the mites. I put a few days worth in separate baggies. Just pull one out per feeding.

Raven is 2 1/2 now.

we feed her raw to minimise allergic reactions as our gsd wasn't a great kibble fan and easier to keep them all on the same.

I am waiting for the vet to come back off his holiday to discuss further treatment options

Well Raven is allergic to pretty much every mite going.

Today she is having blood taken and this will be sent to america and germany and made into a course of immunotherapy treatments for her.will take a few weeks for the course to be done and then its fingers crossed it works.

Some friends of ours have dogs with a similar issue. They said Apoquel works really really well. However, the dog is also on seizure meds and some others, so they are trying to reduce the drugs she is on if possible.

They have been doing the customized immunotherapy you mentioned for about a month. It's working "ok" for her - not as well as apoquel but enough that she rarely needs it.

Hope it works for Raven!

Hello
I'm new to the forum but found your skin problem interesting. I also have a recent itchy skin problem with my 5.5 year old. Did the usual remedies including antibiotics but not clearing up. Vets cannot pin point the problem, no new carpets etc. I would be keen to keep in touch and see how you get on.
Regards
John

The allergy testing wasnt cheap but well worth doing.

Still waiting for the immunotherapy to arrive so have put them on a short course of prednisilone just to ease the itching.

John happy to help if l can
