How Manty Senior Newfs

As of October 5, 2013, there are at least 15 Senior Newfs on Newf Net. These are dogs ten years old and older. If we counted from 9 years and up there would be about another 15, so I hope to remember to ask again this time next year.

I have a senior Connie. I am unsure of her age since I rescued her 3 years ago as a senior. She's at least 10, slowing down but still enjoying life.

Maddie, who is my rescue girl will be 12 this month. She needs help getting up now, but once she's up she likes to visit her girlfriend, a 10 yr old Irish Wolfhound down the street.

So out of over 2000 active members on Newf Net we only have 15 dogs over 10!
Bella is 12 years and 5 months and Winston is 9 years and 5 months and the wild thing Thunder is 2. I am hoping for a little bit more time with the two older ones. They are getting steady but are still enjoying food and shorter walks.

Snuffles will be 10 April 2nd so 4 months from today he will be a official senior. He seems to be doing pretty well. I did start him on daily Deramaxx maybe a month ago. I tried 100mg at first, then 75mg by cutting 100mg pills. I then tried 100 every other day. Not that I noticed a big difference, I went but went back to 75mg single pills when I found out I could get them. His minimum dose for his weight per the dosing levels would be about 67mg, so he is pretty low dose. He is jumping in my car again, and even followed me upstairs at the Basset Hound house a couple/three weeks ago. That was a shock. Wish I knew if it was because he felt good or trying to get away from the 4 month old puppy. :)

Our Ruby will be 12 in February and over all she is in great shape with a good appatite and a strong bark to tell me when it is meal time, usually she is about 30 minutes early. She started having trouble getting up from the tile floor last summer but as long as she has traction she gets up just fine.

Herkules is now 13 years and 9 1/2 month, he will turn 14 on 7th April. He is still doing okay a little weak in the rear legs, but still okay. Maybe we have the luck to celebrate his 14th birthday.

Larry is 12 and 2month. He is still doing good and wants to go every day for his car ride.

Hope to have them still a little longer

I haven't been here for many years but enjoy seeing and hearing of Newfs.

My girl Izzy was adopted as a rescue from Autumn Acres back in October 2006 via this list. She is almost 11 now and doing very well, although her hips are a bit tender in the past year.

She has slowed down quite a bit but often gallops down the lawn with joy in the morning and chases fresh veggies from the garden. In this picture she is sleeping in her favourite position, the Half Rotisserie Chicken.

Two years ago her Labrador friend died of lymphoma, so we adopted an older chocolate Lab from a shelter, who is about the same age, and they get on well.

Our Grayce just turned 11 2 weeks ago. She's having some health problems but we're hoping she'll be around to celebrate 12!

I'm thinking I will do this again in September/October and see just how many we have now. Moonlight is now 10, so she qualifies.
