How Fast Can You Type?

Okay, I must really be getting old. I, too, will try this again. I did 60 wpm. When I graduated from high school back in the dark ages, I could do 130 fairly regularly. I will say, though, that typing on a typewriter is faster than typing on a keyboard. I will also say, I found this text very difficult and unlike most of the typing I usually do. Too many -- and , Also, usually you can read the text ahead of time. However, all that being said, the old fingers just don't work as well as they used to. BTW I have been a secretary/typist professionally since the day after I graduated from high school, so I should be better.

Well. Second try on straight text - Instructions - was better, but still not great. I managed 80. All this is making me feel ancient.

Nina, that one is just a hard way to take a test! If you typed 130 once, then you probably type at least 100 now!

currently I can type 73 words a minute -- took 3 years of typing in high school and competed in typing competitions. I was much faster in school - old age has slowed me down..... :)

Don't know how many words I type a minute but I have a handicap. About ten years ago I pinched off the tip of my left pinkie finger so I have a hard time with the letters associated with that finger; a,s q and z. I have to really look to make sure I typed the right letter.

The other morning, Terry came over to kiss me good bye before leaving for work. I was in the middle of typing something, 'In stream of consciousness', and continued to type as we kissed! Talk about multi-tasking! Ha! I had to get the thought on computer before I forgot what I wanted to say. It's an age thing! <sigh> I do alright for having a defeated finger.
