Holy wierdness tonight ...

Me and Troy were sitting on the couch, watching the news, when Charlie starts barking at something outside - we think we *might* have heard a soft knock at the door, so we checked, and there is a toddler standing at our door, by himself.

The kid was wearing a jacket, and shoes, but no hat and gloves, and it is -18C here tonight ... he starts walking into the house, so I picked him up (he snuggled right into me) and I walked him out to the street to look and see where he came from ...

Turns out the neighbours had some friends over, loading up some stuff in a truck, and the little guy just wandered right out of the garage, across to our house, and up our steps!

I think his mom got the fright of her life at how quick a little one can go missing!

Good Charlie! Excellent watchdog Newf to alert you to the visiting toddler.

Quite natural instinct to walk up to a nice cozy house door to come in from the cold. Did the wee one see your furbear?

I had a similiar thing happen at a local park back in the fall. Snuffles and I were just strolling along away from the main stream area when I saw a small toddler coming to us. And I did not see a adult anywhere near by. So I just had the little fellow follow Snuffles back to the play ground area, and sure enough Mom was quite frantic till she saw us. At least the weather was good.

It is really lucky Charlie alerted us, because otherwise we might not have noticed the soft knocking. We did put him in another room while we investigated, so the little guy and Charlie didn't get to meet. I am glad that he toddled up to our house, because I hate to think what would happen if the wrong person opened the door ...

Isn't if a shame that the world has become so scary one of our first thoughts is lucky he came to your house. And he is! Hope his family has a Merry Christmas and thank you for helping him.

Actually, when I returned him they barely said a word to me, just explained that he wandered off ... no thank you!
