Help Find A New Food

Had allergy test done for Bailey. He is allergic to Chicken, fish, and lamb. Does anybody know of a food that does not contain any of these? I am trying to research the higher quality foods, but they all seem to have one these.
He tested high for lamb and fish and low for chicken. Could I maybe get away with finding a food where chicken is not the main ingredient?
I am researching, but my head is spinning so I was hoping someone could help me along. He was on Orijen 6 fish and is eating Orijen large breed puppy until I can find something else. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi - You could try Instinct duck and Turkey formula, natural balance lid potato & duck dry food (this has salmon oil), or you could feed raw. With a raw diet you can control what he eats. Oma's Pride is in ct. They have sigle protien mixes.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions. Now to see what I can get him to actually eat. On top of allergies he's a bit picky. Spoiled, picky, whatever. LOL.

Can't speak to their dog foods, but I have an allergic/ibd cat with chicken issues and I've been feeding the Natural Balance duck & green pea as well their venison formulas with good results. NB seemed to be the only limited ingredient product I could find that worked. I assume their limited ingredient dog foods would also be of equal quality.

I had my lab on Natural Balance Duck and Potato (before switching to raw), and he did well on it. I can't remember all that was in it, but I'm pretty sure it was just duck and potato, and a few of those mystifying ingredients whose names I cannot pronounce. I switched him only because I couldn't get his ears to clear up or his eyes to stop running. They were better on D+P than any of the other foods he had been on-in fact one ear did clear up completely. Putting him on raw helped even a little more than that, but he had cancer, so the amount any food could help was limited. :( Although am now a convert to raw food, I was happy with the D+P. Fish oil (not cod) was a big help as well.

Good luck on choosing the best food for your boy. I sympathize-I struggled for years with my lab's allergies.

We give Cooper the Eagle Pack Holistic Duck and Oatmeal. There is some chicken ingredient pretty far down on the list. He didn't do well on grain-free, and oatmeal is (supposedly) hypoallergenic.

HTH, and good luck. I know it's so frustrating, esp with formulas changing all the time!

I am trying Max on canine caviar holistic venison meal & split pea dinner. My daughter's boxer who has allergies + sensitive stomach is doing well on this. Max has been on so many foods, he just does not like anything, thought chicken necks would work. He ate them for a while, now he sticks his nose up at them. He ate canned salmon and mackeral ( only chicken of the sea brand), now he decided he does not like this also. He eats the cavine caviar with some people food in it. He did not like Fromm's duck and sweet potato, even with people food in it.

I am sorry you have to go through this, it is not easy. We are going through something similar, but it is food intolerance because of ibs.
So far we found out Bär is intolerant to fish, chicken & turkey.
We have him now on half kibble [Acana Lamb & Apple] & half home cooked. It seems to be working out fine.
We had tried Fromm duck & sweet potatoe [soft formed poo]
natural balance venison & potatoe [vomitting]
I then went back to the Acana L&A, even though he pooped 4-5 times a day on it, but they were solid at least & his tommy was not upset.
All I can say, read, read, read ALL the ingredients in the food you want to try.
Good luck.

I can really sympathise we are looking at food alternatives for Beau as the Orijen is just starting to get too dear for our pockets. I cant get half the alternatives you guys get in the states which is a real pain as the allergy tests for Beau were really inconlusive .
Good luck with your search
