The vet thinks that in all probability, Lucky died of Laryngeal Paralysis, that her upper airway collapsed. I have read all the threads involving Lar Par, but I think I attributed much of her symptoms to old age. Lar Par did cross my mind, but I also assumed any treatment would be too stressful on a 13 year old girl. What I did not anticipate was that she would ultimately suffocate. The last two hours of her life were so stressful that I will never forgive myself. If there is any way to prepare yourself, do so. I would not wish this on my enemies, much less my cyber friends. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but just saying, be aware.

Many hugs....it's a very upsetting sad traumatic memory that will stay with you (I have some myself and they still haunt me today) and I pray those memories are quickly pushed aside and filled with many other heart warming memories that heal your heart and soul.
Sorry very sorry you experienced that.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. LP is not good, my Chance had it. You did everything you could for your girl and she knew she was loved. Remember all the good times you had with her. She's free now and watching over you and wouldn't want you to be sad.

I wish I could think of something comforting to say. Here's to one day being able to recall the happy memories and not just the raw and painful ones.

I am sure I would feel just as bad. I am sorry she went the way she did. I am sure I would have similiar feelings too. Hope you get past the negitive feelings. It isn't like you have been through it before or Lucky could try to tell you what was wrong. She did live to be 13, so that does speak volumes of what you did right.

Thanks Ted, wish I had read that earlier...so many of the signs and symptoms were what I was simply attributing to old age. Probably the only alteration in outcome was that I could have avoided the last couple of hours by having her put to sleep that afternoon...hindsight and all that. She definitely had all the attendant symptom in slow progression.
