Hi, I am new to the forum and looking to learn as much as possible about the breed as we are considering adding a Newf to our family. My beloved Chinese Shar Pei passed in October and we are just getting to the place to think about another dog. My husband and I have grown up with having dogs all of our lives but never had the pleasure of being owned by a Newfoundland. We are both drawn to the breed and have spent a lot of time reading on the NCA website and reading various articles online and in print. We do have two small childen (4 and 2) that have always had a dog in the house and as part of the family. We are here to soak up your knowledge and experience!

Welcome from Newf Jersey and read all you can to make sure they fit with your lifestyle and if you find that they do...... then you have 3 kids.

We are also in Charlotte - Indian Trail to be exact but both work uptown. So nice to see a "neighbor" here. We have been looking to find Newfs here that our kids could meet and local owners we could talk to. Do you mind if I PM you with questions?

Thanks for the warm welcome! We have messages out to several breeders to learn more and ask if we can spend some time with their dogs to learn more about grooming and all things Newf hands on before we commit to a waiting list/puppy.

Welcome from Newf Orleans. I started my journey to Newf ownership much as you did and found this a great resource --especially-- after that amazing ball of fluff came home! What you don't find in ongoing discussions.. ask or search for because chances are.. someone's asked that question before! Also, check out the "stickies" in each category just to get you started.

You are close! I'm in Union County between Weddington and Marvin! I have 3 kids (10, almost 7 and 4) and we'd be glad to get together. PM me!

Welcome from Colorado! We just "got owned" by a newf 4 months ago and it's been such a blessing for us! There are many knowledgeable people here to share there love of newfs (not me, I'm still noob).
