Grass ripping

Another peculiar thing Boog does is rips little hunks of grass out of the ground and tosses it. He likes to dig, too, which is a dog thing, but the grass thing is out of my experience. What is he looking for?

My almost 6 year old Newf doesn't but I've had lots of dogs who did in the puppy stage.

I am pretty sure he is marking his territory,
our border collie Mickey does this all the time.

ditto - long strands of St Augustine - bare spots all over the yard - definitely the thrill of ripping (would be the same w/a fleshy bone?!)

Yep, gotta grass ripper-outter here too. It's funny to see them running with grass,dirt and roots hanging out of their mouth, until you look at your yard.
