First litter - yikes!

As Cindy said, if you see the drop, keep taking the temp. It can go back up. I didn't do that and we ended up with a C section that I'm still not convinced was necessary.

Yep, I usually check in about 4 hours again to see if it's staying down...I've had it hit what I thought was "the drop" a couple of times only to find it was back up to 100.1 a few hours later. When it drops, for real..it STAYS down.

still nothing today - went for a walk and she did 3 pooh's - last one was runny. But then she ate her lunch meal.
She has been a little more 'glazed over' and clingy, but she is quite a clingy girl anyway.
Will take her temp

I tried wrapping Sugar's tail with vet wrap when she whelped one of her litters, it came off before the second pup was born. Is there a secret to getting it to stay. It just slipped right down off her tail. Didn't unravel.

I've never had any problems wrapping the tail...I start at the top and wrap to the end....maybe your not doing it tight enough?

Oh and I also have 2 Kane heat mats...I LOVE them...much better then a heating pad.

Nessa, do you wrap the sheep's tail also?....:)

Tail is docked, so too short to wrap! But we do the sanitary shave, and wash the underbelly and groin region. I don't use anything but warm water on the bag and nipples though - don't want to mask or remove the udder smell that helps guide the lambs to the bag.

The loose poo is also a sign.....she may or may not keep eating. I have had them not eat for a couple days prior..and had them eat ravenously right up untill the time..
Louann...you are not a farm girl are you ! Sheep have no tails.! lol

I'm in awe! Total and complete awe of the lot of you! I visited a breeder friend this weekend with 6 - 2 week old newf pups....I wouldn't sleep for at least 10 weeks.... those N-Net police would have to come for me too!

Yep! you guys walk on water!!!!

I can't do it now but someday I'd love to go help with a new litter. I don't ever want to breed but I think it would be amazing to be around all those tiny new babies.

I agree with Lou Ann, you're not wrapping it tightly enough. Don't worry that you're getting it too tight. The amount of tail hair won't allow that.

You can also wrap like you would a horse's tail--flip a bit of hair up and over a layer as you wrap and this will prevent the vet wrap from slipping.

Sheep do have tails! Most are docked when the lambs are still very young, so many people don't get the chance to see lambie tails. ;)

I read this entire post string without stopping. I'm totally amazed and humbled. But then I'm also humbled every time I see a colt or a filly stand on those wobbly legs. Birth is just amazing.
Congratulations!
