eating grass

Holly (2 y/o) has been eating grass non-stop for the last 10 or so days. Then she started this hack/gack thing a few times a day, I think to get the grass up. Nothing comes out of her mouth (vomit/bile) when she hacks. She acts normally, poops, eats, plays just like before the grass eating. I haven't noticed any missing towels so I don't think she ate anything she shouldn't have ;) . Is she missing something in her diet? Is this even something I need to worry about?

She's currently eating 4 cups of Pro Plan per day, which is what the rescue was feeding her. I've had her for about 6 weeks now.

My three graze on the grass all year long but I don't see or hear any hacking. I have wondered if they just like the taste or if they need more fiber.

Ty does this now and then. I always heard that grass eating is the way they get themselves to vomit. Never understood that, and Ty hasn't vomitted. I'm interested in what others say.

both boys will eat grass once in a while and they always yack it up later.... seems to alway be in the wee hours of the morning :(

Yogi once yacked up the biggest hair ball I'd ever seen -- I have never seen or heard of a dog doing that, thought it was a cat thing. anyway -- Yogi likes to lick his paws and legs alot, so I guess he eats the grass to get rid of all the fur in his tummy?

Byron is my grass eater. He seems to like the sea grass that grows on the shore best. If I see him, I tell him "no", but if I don't catch him and he's eaten a bit, he'll hack. He also loves to eat wood. Mostly sticks, but there is one tree at the dog park that he goes up to and starts eating the bark. People probably think I never feed him and he's starving.

Jorge thinks he is a cow when in a field full of grass and will graze away! Molly my little rescue dog will eat it when she feels sickly to make herself vomit she suffers from tummy pain first thing if she doesn't get a late night snack .

I didn't pose the question, but I am glad to read the answers. Darcy eats grass all the time and I was a little worried!

All of mine eat grass. We went somewhere and brought Bava with us, but left the others at home. Sophie got QUITE upset and wanted to go out after we got home. She dragged me to the grassy area off our drive and bit mouths-full of grass and was whimpering the whole time. Poor girl had worked herself into such a tizzy that the grass eating made her feel better. Settled her stomach.

Now are we going to have to explain to people that Land-bound manatees can come in black, brown, black & white, etc.? :fce32f95:

Indy does chow down on the grass and looks like a cow that is grazing. :D

Reggie is part Sheep. While long downs at tests and practices she lays there and graze. She is not always the only one.

Brutus eats grass all the time, but he doesn't vomit. It comes out in his poo basically whole. I dunno if he's missing anything, or if he just likes it.
