Dryers, revisited

I started out with the Master Blaster and it was a fine dryer...until I got the third and fourth newfs. With 4 of them needing to be blown off...the K9III is indispensible...and they come in pretty colors!

Most regular or standard outlets are 15 amp outlets and most things will run on these outlets. Kitchens will very often have 1 or 2 outlet that are 20 amps. That is what is need to run must microwaves, dryers and I think refrigerators. A 15 amp and 20 amp outlet will look the same to the naked eye.

If you run an appliance that requires more amps than the line is rated for it will usually pop the circuit breaker, if it doesn't you run the risk of a fire starting in the wiring. 20 amp lines have a heavy gauge wire to carry the higher demand for electricity in the line.
The K9II is 18amps - we ran into this very issue when we got our K9II - no 20amp circuits in our house, only the 15amp, so we were constantly blowing breakers with both motors on. We can only use one motor - I want to price out an electrician to add a 20amp service - any ideas on how much that would cost?? I am thinking just for one outlet.

I would be interested in this info as well. I honestly hadn't considered that when buying the dryer, so now I'm worried.

I have no idea what an electrician would cost. My house has a couple of 20 amp outlets although I think they are on the same circuit. I also think it probably varies depending on your location as what an electrician would charge.

I finally talked the DH into getting a blower a couple of months ago. I am not sure how we got along without having one for so long. We purchased the K9 III blower and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! It is in a lovely blue color too.

Just FYI, electricians here charge by the hour, so it may depend on a couple of factors to get real cost, but I'm pretty sure you'll be closer to 100 than 500.
I too am anxious to hear what you find out though!!

Craftsman makes Gas Model. We use the electric model some times. Then when your done you dog you can do the yard. LOL We have Double K, Air Max, it has twin motors, but I tell you the Leave blower works just as good.

I is not a big job to put in the upgraded outlet. I believe it cost me a little over $100, but I found out afterward that the dryer works in the regular outlets too in the garage. My sons use my dryer to dry their cars off after washing them so there are no water spots.:whistling: They use various outlets in the garage without a problem. It may have to do with whatever else is running off that breaker.

We have two breaker boxes. Both are wired for 220 ... for the ovens, microwaves, clothes dryers, pool pump, etc.

No problem using one of those outlets...as long as I'm not using one of those items too. If I am, the breaker will blow.

Our Master Blaster finally came today and the instructions say it can be used in a regular 120V outlet.

Okay, I didn't know if there was a statistic I didn't know about. I had looked at all three but I couldn't imagine paying an extra $60 to $100 just for the extra wee bit of air. I'm sure when you have LOTS of newfies it probably is worth it to save the time, but for now I've just got my two and I can't imagine having more than 3 or 4 dogs at a time for the foreseeable future.

This is the info I could find on the air flow for all three:

Air Flow in Feet per Minute -

Metro Master Blaster - 58,500
K9 II - 59,329
K9 III - 62,000
