It's official...

Tug has *insert drumroll* has exactly *pause for dramatic tension* 0 % Newfoundland DNA!

"What your dogs breed composition means

Level 1
This category is intended to help owners recognize when their pet's DNA contains a majority of a specific breed (75% or greater). If your dog has a strong match to one of our validated breeds, then it is categorized as Level 1. Most mixed breed dogs will not usually have a breed in this category unless one or both of their parents are purebred.

Level 2
This category reports breeds that are easily recognizable within your dog. While these breeds may have a strong influence on your pet, each breed listed makes up less than the majority of your dog's DNA, between 37%-74%. This usually means one of the parents was a purebred.

Level 3
This category identifies breeds that have between 20%-36% of the listed breed(s), usually coming from a grandparent.

Level 4
Represents 10%-20% of the breed DNA, usually coming from a great grandparent

Level 5
This level represents the lowest level of breed in your dog occurring at 9% or less. However, they still appear at a low and measurable amount in your pet's DNA."

BREED LEVEL
German Shepherd 2
Rottweiler 2
Labrador Retriever 5
Australian Shepherd 5

I knew he had SOME GSD and Rottie, but NO Newf? With THAT fur? With THOSE webbed paws? That kind, gentle disposition?

My flabber has been totally gasted!!! :run:

Well - he does have Labrador Retreiver, that explains the webbed paws and all four breeds, when raised right, have awesome dispositions so, I'd say, you've hit the jackpot there!

Well then...I think he needs to be a Screeched in. Then he will be a Newfie! Of course, the alcohol won't be good for him; but as far as kissing the cod, I'll bet he has no trouble with that! LOL!

:alc: :!rolling: It just goes to show you that it's not all nature, there's lots of nurture in there too! And that's to the fact that he's a mix like that, he's certainly less prone to a whole array of health issues. Maybe you have the best of all worlds. :D

I've heard those DNA tests don't work very good, if at all. A pure bred newfie will come back showing a bunch of different breeds and it's not even repeatable. DNA testing should probably only be used to verify parentage because that is the only thing definite about it.

He was a Newf before the test, so he's been grandfathered in. Yep, he's legally a Newf.
Though many times I have questioned the wisdom of the Newf.Net Court of Law and often refered to it as a kangaroo court when it always puts the blame on bad things to the owner and never the dog, for once the Newf.Net Court made a good ruling.

OK...here is how we fix it.

Nessa is right, he is family, so this is ok

To become an honorary newf:

Mom puts one foot into a tub of salt water
Tug gets in the tub,
Mom shoots the screech, kisses the cod, Tug eats said cod.

then we get TWO new newfies ;)

Well Tug is fantastic regardless!

I have a feeling that Lance will get similarly Newf-free results when I do his.
