The vet called and both Boaz and Ty did well with the neutering and are in recovery. We can pick them up this afternoon.
Ty has Entropion in both eyes. The irritation he’s experienced since he came to us in February was so sporadic that we were sure it was an allergy of some kind. We would wash his eyes with an eye irrigation solution, sometimes administering a small amount of Benadryl as well, and it would clear up over night and stay gone for weeks. He happened to be irritated today so asked that the vet look at this. While Ty was awake and asleep, the vet could see the irritation by the lower lashes on his cornea. He thinks he’s just on the edge of having a severe issue and Ty probably gets something in his eyes that sets this off. He will recommend an eye specialist.
Boaz has arthritic changes in both elbows, and the left one is worse. Vet speculates OCD, FCP, or dysplasia, but will also defer to the specialist, and will give us a recommendation, urging we get on top of this soon. Poor baby is only 18 months old.
Your experiences with these issues would be appreciated, and if you have experience in the Chicagoland area with eye or ortho specialists, we welcome those too. We are in Algonquin. I trust our vet, but would like to start with the best in specialties if possible.
My heart is sinking.
