I am considering purchasing a Newfy puppy. I have read a lot about the breed and at this point they seem to be the ideal breed for my family. But before I bring that not so small fur ball home to my kids I want to know it will be for the long run.
I know Newfies are expensive, but I am trying to do my best to put a number to that. From everything I have read so far health costs are the biggest expense. I wouldn't have any problem dealing with routine vet expenses (a few hundred to a thousand or so), but big expenses like surgeries that are several thousand dollar would be quite a strain. I believe the bast way to deal with this would be pet health insurance. But it is my understanding that what they cover, how you get paid/reimbursed, etc. varies quite a bit. I have also heard that some are a lot easer to work with then others.
So I am hoping some of you can share your experience and recommendations with me.
