Bailey the water dog

We went camping with Rhonda and had the dogs out swimming. Bailey rocks as a water rescue dog. No one was getting in that water without here being there just in case. Now if I could get her to fetch. She’ll save anyone, tow anything to shore, but retrieve, no way! Not gonna happen. She even jumped off the dock (oooohhh it was ugly but she did it). Not too shabby for an 8-year-old that just learned how to swim……

Are we there yet?

Bailey going off the dock (well, I missed that) and Stoli running around to the grass. Chicken.

Saving Dad and Troy. Dad first of course!

Need a ride?

Here's the link to the rest if you want to see. I'm a terrible photographer regularly but I was so choked up, these suck even worse. http://fototime.com/inv/54FD6F08B7480FC

Bailey is such a great girl, looks like she is really in her element...taking care of business! Bucca even got in? WOW! Looks like you had a great time....you go(!) pretty Bailey!

To think her "owners" left her outside for 6 yrs covered in scabs and overweight, and to see her now. Then for Newf Rescue to turn her down for whatever reason. But then if they had taken her I bet she would not be living such a rich life, loved the way she is with you guys. Man, does it bring tears to my eyes. *blows a smooch to Bailey*

Her and Dolan need a Newf water rescue calendar all to themselves, 6 months for each = )

Those are great pictures. She sure looks comfortable in the water. Great way to spend the week-end. Thanks for sharing!

Good girl Bailey! Its great seeing her so happy and healthy!

Jenn, your implication that dogs going through formal Rescue are not placed in GREAT, loving homes is very wrong.

I'm just happy to see that Bailey landed in the jackpot of a loving home, however she got there!

Go Bailey Go!!

Susan, I don't think that's what Jenn meant. I was not approved by newf rescue (well, they didn't answer a single of the 27 e-mails I sent)and either was Bailey (they said she wasn't a newf so Jenn took her). So, I got her. And I couldn't be happier. And hopefully, either could she. From the smile on her face, I'll take that!.

Any suggestions on how to get her to retrieve? I'm assuming she never played with toys because she has no idea what to do with them. Shoot, when she came to us, she didn't even know how to play with the other dogs. Watching that evolution had to be some of the best "crack me up" moments of my life. But retrieve? Hmm...any suggestions would be helpful.

Yes Leslie that is exactly what I meant.

I would try using the clicker to teach her to fetch.

Looks like a very fun time was had by all, but especially by sweet Miss Bailey. She is such a cutie pie.

I just love seeing pictures of Bailey! She has always been one of my favorites since seeing her picture on here under Rescue! She's probably wondering why on earth she didn't do this rescuing stuff before!

Bailey has good taste, rescuing the cute guys (Dad and Troy)! (My hubby is bald too.)

Leslie thanks for sharing your pictures. It looks like it was a great time for all. Although I am a little concerned about the one of Troy swinging way up in the air. Was he alright when he landed?

I was surprised to see Bucca in the water too. She is such a scamp! (said adoringly)

Good luck with your retrieval work. Who says an old dog can't learn new tricks?
