Bad Newf Weather

This summer was so unusually hot in Wisconsin. Calvin and Hobbes wanted to live in the bedroom where the air conditioner was. We had large box fans blowing on them in the mud room where it was cooler but no matter what was going on the instant they came in the house they would run upstairs and sit by the bedroom door, looking down the steps as if to say, What don't you get???:goofy:

So it was hot but not sunny and we want to get them on the sailboat. We have a 35 foot Morgan so we brought them down to the docks. They did well until...........they realized there was a air conditioner in the cabin. They both stood by that door and wanted in. The rest of the visit was spent with them sleeping in the air conditioning and us sitting by ourselves !!!!

How was other Newfs summmer?

HAHA Smart boys!

Our summer was so unbelievably humid! I don't ever remember a summer this humid. We had some pretty hot days as well. Once I got up in the morning, both window A/C's were turned on full blast. The floor fans we have scattered about the house were never turned off. The dogs spent most of the time in their crates (doors open) with fans blowing on them. I'm very thankful we have A/C and feel badly for those people who do not and for those animals who were forced to live outside.

I didn't see Nathan for much of the summer. He wanted to be in a crate in my air conditioned office with a fan blowing on him. I sure did miss him!! :lol:The other dogs minded the gross weather but did manage to play a bit. 9 month old Devany wasn't fazed a bit. She played all she wanted even when she had no one to play with. She found her own fun:goofy:

I tell ya, come night time my daughter and I were FROZEN!! We'd sit on the couch wrapped up in toasty warm blankets but the dogs were nice and cool and sacked out all over the house so that's what counts.

We were in the same boat (ha ha) in Northern IL. Fortunately we have central air. They still wanted to go "Water?" Swimming.

It was pretty hot and humid here and Thor did not like staying outside longer than it took for him to use the restroom. lol Now the weather is so much nicer!

Same story here...Poor Maggie has not had an undercoat at all since we got her due to poor care and thyroid issues before. She finally grew a great big thick coat....in June. Oops.

She spent the whole summer in my bedroom where the a/c is with her fan. I missed her!

She's back to hanging out in the living room with us again. We used to spend a lot of nice summer nights sleeping with the windows open. Now we keep the a/c cranked all summer and use a big thick comforter. Its the only way to make sure she's not panting all night long!

Mine live in the bathroom. I'll have to take a shot of the vent. Anya lays right next to it...it is dented. Poor Eden got whatever floor space was left in the bathroom.

I feel a little guilty admitting this but it was one of the most glorious summers that I ever remember here on Cape Cod. We only had 4-5 days that it bumped over 90 and required A/C. Most of the summer was mid 80's with light breezes during the day and mid 60's at night. It did get a little dry mid-July but a few thunderstorms and rainy nights took care of that. I had windows open all summer with 2 ceiling fans, 2 window fans and a box fan for Lu.

If it weren't for the influx of visitors and summer folks making getting from Point A to Point B slower and W-A-Y to many home fireworks going off it would have been perfect. We even had a bear swim the canal and meander down Cape to P-Town, had a few Great Whites snacking on seals (and a moronic tourist who tempted fate and lost some blood) and a vacationing Taylor Swift buying a home near the Kennedy Compound to keep us in the news.

Pretty much a delightful summer in my estimation.

Our summer was one of the hottest and most humid I remember. We had weeks of high 90's to over 100. With high humidity. Even when it dropped down to around 90 the humidity was so high it was horrible.

Ours stayed inside most of the summer except to potty or for a brief walk around in the late evening or early morning. They were glued to their fans and AC.

Now that it's cool they're still not willing to stay out long. So we're in the in/out in/out in/out mode. They're not used to being "out there" for any length of time, and since they're such creatures of habit, it's taking a while for them to readjust. But they will. Then I won't be able to get them in! haha

Happens every year. :)

Fortunately now when they ARE out there, they're running around like maniacs.

Wet and flooding in surrounding areas ,luckily not is

Then really hot and fans going everywhere so next year l may have to invest in an air cooler unit

There were days I literally had to push Maggie out the door. I always feel like I miss summer because I spend the days inside in sweats!

It was pretty hot and humid here in Chattanooga but strangely, Kayak wanted to be outside a lot. He's an inside dog (and sleeps on the airvents), but we go for frequent walks and the dog park a lot. He loved it. I just had to make sure his walks were short and he got TONS of water at the park. It has started cooling down here in Chattanooga and he's loving it!!:neener:

It was a brutal summer here in Oklahoma. But like Kayak, we still went for early morning walks. Willis wasn't about to give up his play sessions, so we kept it to short spurts of play in the backyard and broke out the hose and went swimming as often as we could. I never want to see 112 again, though, and we are thoroughly enjoying the cooler weather that fall has brought. Bring on the snow!
