A Big Woof from Virginia

My wife and I have been sharing our life with Newfies since 1990. Our first, Dr. Watson was a big boy...170 lbs but had extreme joint issues. He lived to be 9 1/2 years. Our second boy, Kokomo was smaller...130 lbs but oh the size of his heart. .this boy smiled all the time and even though somewhat of a rogue, he was easy to forgive. Kokomo was 3 yrs when we introduced Maggie Mae into the family. Maggie was 16 weeks and very shy. Kokomo became her mentor and this girl blossomed under his attention. Maggie is now 9 years and we have another male, Sailor Boy. Sailor came to us at 10 weeks and is now 2 yrs. This guy has an attitude unlike any newfie we have had. We continue to work hard socializing him and hope the 2 year mark will reap dividends. His most redeeming attribute so far...he is one handsome devil.

We lived in the Richmond area with our newfs (and kids), until our move last year. I hope you've joined the Colonial Newfoundland Club.

Yes, we do belong to CNC. Have been able to attend a few functions, particularly enjoy the Christmas parade in colonial Williamsburg.

I grew up in Richmond, in the fan - miss it terribly!! Most of my family is still in the area. Still keeping my fingers crossed that when my husband retires in a few years we can move back up!
