9-Year-Old Bronze Female in MA (Craigslist)

I saw this listing today:
http://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/for/1083939742.html

I've reached out to NCNE Rescue, but am wondering if I should reach out to the lister to urge her to turn the dog over to rescue as well? I did this once before and the owner was upset that I'd contacted rescue. I try to be very gentle and understanding (confrontation isn't going to help), but now I'm not sure what to do...when you run across a newf on Craigslist, do you contact the owner?

ETA: I don't know why I wrote "Female" in the title, the owner doesn't indicate the gender. Sorry!

Okay, just talked to Bob, Yogi's owner. They are coming this afternoon for a visit -- now I'm SCARED!! He says we sound like the right family for Yogi.
Yogis sounds PERFECT!! But I really wasn't looking for another dog -- you know my husband hasn't adjusted to montana yet, so what the hell am I doing?? Okay, calm down, breath in and out -- can't help but also be so EXCITED, I think I need another anxiety pill...... let you know how it goes. sandy

Any update? We're in RI and would gladly come get him. And if we couldn't keep him (OH THAT FACE) bring him to Cathy at NCNE rescue. Who am I kidding? He'd probably stay!

You can alway's get Yogi and have rescue help place him.
Just tell hubby what your doing. I hate when they put them out there for free. Keep us posted.

Well, John just woke up and my little blabber mouth, Emma started jumping up and down telling him "we're gonna get another newfie, we're gonna get another newfie". He gives me the look, and says "What newfie?". I told him about Yogi, and although he's not real thrilled, he also isn't against it. We'll see how this afternoon goes. Bob, Yogi's dad lives in Shrewsbury so they are even closer then ever - maybe only 25 minutes away. He says Yogi is the perfect Newf in all the ways they are supposed to be. Our main concern ( and I told Bob) is that we are leaving for 8 days to florida on April 21. Montana is going to the kennel ( costing me $200 plus) I dont think we can afford to kennel both -- any ideas if Yogi does stay here, even if only temporary?

O.K., This is just plain weird. Sandie, There is another Sandie on here that has a dog named Montana and guess what her other dog is named????? Yep, Yogi!!! I'd say the Gods have spoken.

Added to say, See if anyone close to you (NN) can take both dogs for 8 days for the cost of food and a gift from Florida!!!

I apologize, but I laughed when I read this. I, too, am going through the "Oh let's help another dog" syndrome. I keep checking Craig's list, petfinder, the Michigan rescue(of course). Then I think, Jamie would kill me!!!

Sometimes you are thrown into it, and sometimes we have the power to actually chose what happens. Either way, the right thing will happen for you. I'm sure that once your husband meets Yogi...and falls madly in love that everything will work out!

wow -- okay, is the other Sandie's montana a landseer and her Yogi a brown? I think you're right, the newfie gods have spoken, and how can I not listen?? I can't wait till they get here - don't have a time yet, going to call him by noon to see when he wants to come over. I'll take pictures!!! Teri - I may just do that, see if anyone is willing to take them while we're on vacation - it certainly would help $ wise, and I would absolutley do the same for anyone else.

talked to Bob at Noon -- he was on his way out and I'm calling him back at 3pm today.

I called Bob back at 3:20, he's on a roll with his moving from house to apt, so he is going to call me tomorrow and try for coming out here later in the afternoon. I told him I understood how busy he is and that it's an emotional time too. Also said that I am not rushing him - I'm here for him and Yogi as needed. He was so appreciative and told me I'm the best. I LOVE that we may be the ones to help him out as a new family. I asked him if he was just coming for a visit, or was he intending for Yogi to stay. He asked me if I'd mind if we took Yogi, and of course I told him Yogi can stay. He'll decide once he is here, but talking with him it seems like he's already decided on us. I'll keep you all posted tomorrow when and if they come. I hope the boys will get along -- Sunny - thank you for your offer, are you sure it would not put you out? I will talk with you soon and plan a playday? thank you thank you -- sandy
