.....It was 18 below here last night...and that is without the wind chill...! Coldest it has been in 25 years...We had 20" of snow during the storm, and 4 more inches yesterday....I am sick of it...! We are forcast for a nice thaw next week, and it can't come soon enough for me..!! So much for global warming........!

We're trapped in this deep chill too! It was -5 on the way to work this morning, also without factoring in the windchill. I dropped off Mila at doggy daycare at 6:30 am and to get there, I have to drive through downtown Yorkville and go over a bridge that spans the Fox River and it was like driving through a forest fire! The steam plumes were so thick I couldn't see more than 3 feet in either direction. I cannot wait for that thaw coming this weekend...hooray for 43 degrees on Sunday!

I understand as Newf owners we are supposed to embrace this crap.. But my Newf is snoring in front of the fireplace and waiting the delivery of his boots. Not exactly an ambassador of the breed. :shuffle:

Actually the extremely cold winters are a SYMPTOM of global warming. As are the unusually hot summers we've been having. Last summer was absolutely brutal here, I don't know about the rest of y'all but we were all baking. Our sprinkler bill for the summer was astronomical, and we were on a water usage restriction for the first time in forever.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/s...to-global-warming-say-scientists-2168418.html

Some climate scientists believe that the dramatic retreat of the Arctic sea ice over the past 30 years has begun to change the wind patterns over much of the northern hemisphere, causing cold, Arctic air to be funnelled over Britain during winter, replacing the mild westerly airstream that normally dominates the UK's weather.

The study was carried out in 2009, before last year's harsh winter started to bite, and is all the more prescient because of its prediction that cold, snowy winters will be about three times more frequent in the coming years compared to previous decades.

And i just heard a story on the news in the last several weeks, that I think a major Florida airport had to change signs that were based on the earth's magnetic poles changing.

Oh man it has been cold here too...55 on my way to work this morning. I can't even wear my flip flops right now my toes get too cold. Sorry you are all so miserable. Really I am. he he he

But on a side note I have been on water restrictions for over 2 years now. I water my grapefruit tree with water I save from my shower when it is warming up. The latest bathroom trend here is 2 gray 5 gallon buckets from Lowe's.

We all know the planet's climate has changed multiple times over the course of its history. Not sure why anyone thinks that would stop with or without our influence.

The weather is really weird here. We were told to expect a severe winter on the west coast with snow as La Nina arrived.
Well, we had snow one day in November and a day beginning January and that was it.
However, the rain has had to be seen to be believed, gallons of it. But......we'll take that over snow and freezing temps.
