What to use?

Hi all. I have a question. I have a friend who does rescue not sure if i can mention the rescues name here and just got a severely over weight great pyr girl. Had acl surgery few years ago. This girl is 146 lbs and her back end is so weak,no muscle ton in back end and her back feet turn outwards. she was thinking a sling type thing Any one know where to find one?

Drs. Foster and Smith have a good general sling that works beautifully for a giant dog. We used one on our Echo for over 3 years 24/7. And, it's not expensive.

If she needs it all the time the help em up harness is great. It really supports the back end.

If she just wants to put something under her when she needs help getting up and going out, then a cheaper sling would be ok.

It depends on how much help she needs. I personally liked the harness. We used it for a couple of months. She just wore it most of the time. It was easier than having to go get the sling. I could just help her up anytime she needed it. Then she could walk around the yard/house by herself. We weren't dealing with a specific injury that required rest/limited activity. She just needed help with stairs and getting up from the floor until we built up her muscle and controlled her pain.

We would never have gotten through all of Zuzu's surgeries without the help 'em up harness. Maybe they would give your friend a deal for the rescue? It's not cheap but worth every penny and then some. No worries about trying to grab the harness from the floor/table/couch/hook by the door while the dog is scrabbling to get to her feet on her own...

The sling I was talking about stays on all the time, so you don't have to keep putting it on. Echo literally never had hers off, except for an occasional washing, for over 3 years.

They are getting her the help em up harness. She needs to loose 25 lbs to be able to have surgery. needs some sort of orthopedic surgery.
